61 years ago today was Winston Churchill's state funeral. ITV's coverage involved ITN, Granada, ABC, ATV, Anglia, Southern, STV, TWW and Tyne Tees and was co-ordinated by Rediffusion.

Rediffusion published a booklet to commemorate ITV's work, and the late prime minister.

@unitedutilities.bsky.social For the year ending 31 March 2025, United Utilities reported a significant increase in profit before tax rising to £355 million, more than double the £170 million in 2024. In contrast; they have today emailed customers to notify them of a 14% increase in water bills.

I don't exaggerate when I say that Andrew Wakefield should be tried for mass murder. We'll never know how many people have died or will die as a direct result of his fraudulent study.
This is the large domino, with the small domino being some random quack in the UK in 1998 trying to undermine the existing MMR vaccine so his business partner can swoop in with his own. Instead he lost his work credentials and now kids are dying needlessly all over the world, so great job everyone.
Austria loses its WHO status as measles-free, too, together with Armenia, Azerbaijan Uzbekistan and Spain. This comes as no surprise, considering the rise in numbers in recent years and the decline in MMR vaccine coverage

Astonishing thread. But completely unsurprising.
I think I might take one of these "under 20 minutes" AI skills courses the UK Govt. seems very keen on everyone doing and live-post it here... Maybe we can all learn something together! The press release sends me to aiskillshub.org.uk/aiskillsboost/ - let's go and see!

Everyone should be putting up NO ICE NO CPB NO FEDERAL AGENTS GET A JUDICIAL WARRANT OR STAY OUT signs everywhere.
My wife told me she heard at a training she attended that ICE has argued "ALL ARE WELCOME HERE" signs are invitations to enter private spaces and if that don't beat all I don't know what does.

Let's try it the other way about - the wealthy only get AI tutors and the poor only get human ones. We'll see how they get on after a few years.
We want to make sure tutoring isn't the preserve of a lucky few, but accessible to every child who needs it.

AI can help us do that.

Safe, personalised, one-to-one learning support to help every child achieve and thrive.

One FTSE250 company I used to write press releases for sometimes had me go through 20+ revisions as they sought to get it "perfect".

They now send out ChatGPT releases that nobody has proof-read, full of stilted prose and hallucinated extra sentences.

But at least it saves them my small fee.
The thing that gets me the most with AI generated stuff at work is the "well, it looks about right" approach to it. Earlier we had some AI feedback on our response to a really vague commission. It read fine to the people in charge but it took twenty seconds of attention to realise it was bollocks

So I signed up to the government‘s Ai Skills Hub Training and to have a look at the courses I had to say that it was ok for my data to be processed by PwC (for it is they who are running it) and some company called Invision who are very concerned that everything is governed by the laws of Virginia
