Perhaps now people will stop wishcasting about the US military refusing illegal orders. That's not a thing that happens. The 100% compliance rate with using civilian boats for target practice was a bit of a tell.

I feel completely paralyzed by the weight of all these responsibilities that I have to take on for so many other people, in addition to all of the responsibilities I have for myself, and it's just too much. It's something I actively did, rather than something that happened, but I lost about 100lbs over the course of the last year.

I like to use the image of a reaching hand, stretched as far as it can go, trying to grasp something with everything its owner can muster. Particularly with the sense that it's not quite enough, like you reached so far and so high but it just doesn't quite work, but the attempt was still meaningful
