Blink Twice (2024). A poignant twisted tale that unfolds in a natural way as the veil is lifted on both the women and the viewer. The pacing is great and it delivers a terrific payoff. Acting is spotty at times, but this is a great horror flick. 8.5/10
Day Shift (2022). A dumb horror comedy that doesn’t try and do too much. The action is very good as you get to see Jamie Foxx take down vampires. The story is nothing but the has enough good performances from Foxx and Dave Franco to carry you through it. 7/10
Companion (2025). Perhaps more of a sci-fi thriller than horror, but still quite good. It also felt like an extended Black Mirror episode and that isn’t a bad thing. Great turns from Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid. Would recommend. 8/10
Bring Her Back (2025). This was a fucked up one with a legendary performance from Sally Hawkins. A nice follow up to Talk To Me directors though not quite as good or scary. Makeup and gore were top notch though. 7.5/10

Ginger Snaps (2000). What could have been B-movie slop turns into quasi horror comedy w/ a heavy-handed connection between puberty and werewolves. It still worked for me and the practical effects were great. Werewolf movies are very hard to nail, but this one offered an interesting perspective. 7/10
Terrifier (2016). B-movie slasher that wasn't for me. Art the Clown is terrifying (hey-o), but the writing & acting are below even par. I will give props to the make-up and visual effects as it was excellent for a low budget film. Practical effects make all the difference in the horror genre. 5/10
Smile 2 (2025). A perfectly cromulent sequel that continues the tale of this "Smile Monster". It sounds goofy, but it really is excellent horror. From the cold open to the endless torture of Skye, I really enjoyed it. I hear there is another sequel in the works and based on the ending..hoo boy. 8/10

I AM LIVID. I love this series!
And this isn’t an American company either! Ubisoft is French! The main developer is their own subsidiary studio in Montreal! I’m so angry. You can literally blow up Nazis in Wolfenstein and RDR2. This isn’t new. I’m just floored and I shouldn’t be.
Imagine canceling a game where you k*ll KKK members because you would fear the backlash from racists. How cowardly has the world become.

47 Meters Down (2017). Terrifying in the same way as The Shallows and Crawl from the same decade. As someone who finds deep sea terrifying, this legitimately had me holding my breath (lol). The acting is very bad however and doesn't have the same emotional journey as the aforementioned. 6/10
Smile (2022). Very similar vibes to The Ring and It Follows, but does the internalized trauma as the focal point. It is very well done with some legitimate scares/effects without not feeling like a complete retread of the subgenre. I see there is a sequel and I'm looking forward to it. 8.5/10
Penn State is not Philly, just stop with this

But yes, we are sad leave us alone.
A brutal 24 hours for Philly sports fans:

- Penn State upset by unranked UCLA
- Phillies lose to Dodgers in NLDS Game 1
- Eagles lose first game of the season to Broncos
Many in the Delaware Valley feeling like Mark Sanchez this weekend
They’ve gone too far
Nuremberg 2.0 gonna be a real bitch for these fascists, too bad they don’t read history books
I am just so fucking proud of her.
Friday the 13th (2009). Clearly a homage to the original two films, though not nearly as original as it should be. I also don't know how I feel about a "Running Jason Voorhees". The slow walk & plodding made it more nervewrecking. The writing is bad along with the acting. Gratuitous boobs tho! 5/10
It Comes at Night (2017). The best kind of horror is the one that seems the most plausible to happen. This is psychological at some of its best. Joel Edgerton is a masterful actor and the direction is amazing. The ending will have you reeling. 9/10
Wolf Man (2025). I really don't understand what this movie was trying to say. Its a blend of psychological and traditional horror that goes on 20-30 min too long, sadly. The acting is pretty bad and the film has too many dull moments that I found myself waiting for it to be over. 5/10
