This is why the bubble is deflating. “AI” boosters will cite this as an example of an LLM that doesn’t run at a loss but then, when you point out the bad answers from cheap models, they cite much more expensive models & usage patterns as being more accurate. They’re stuck with a catch 22.
Good news about the cutting-edge AI tools from the $3-trillion-dollar company.

Conservative mindset deals in immediacy. It is unbridled X causes Y and removing every other externality humanly possible.

So yes, most believe it because in their minds "well that means millions of housing units are being used by them that will then be empty" because that's the X to Y
im willing to be convinced that there's something im not understanding about "deport as many laborers as you can, tariff the shit out of everything that goes into building a home, etc etc hey presto cheap houses" but at this point I'm skeptical!!

I once live-tweeted our attempt to cancel a mis-sold Virgin Media contract.

It went viral to such a level that eventually the CEO had to call me personally to apologize for how fucking awful they are. Just to give them some modicum of a PR save they could use to counter the massive negative press.
underrated feature of old twitter was people with a decent following being able to bully brands into acting right

Starting January 1st, California will mandate that any use of AI-altered real estate photos in listings be disclosed, and that a link to the unaltered image be included.

It will be a criminal offense to fail to make this disclosure.

TIL that thousands of German teens facing conscription into the Hitler Youth/League of German Girls, said fuck it, I'll be a pirate instead, and the Edelweiss Pirates were born. Their slogan was "Eternal War on the Hitler Youth".

Fuck yeah. When the world tries to make you a fascist, be a pirate.

My modest proposal is that if you say "___ is here to stay" about any new technology, you should be allowed to live *but* you have to be exiled to the forest for at least 50 years.

part of what I like about Mamdani is his admission that housing affordability is a more complex problem than either building more housing or expanding rent control. You need to do both in order to protect the most vulnerable now and improve the problem long term.

I’m sure I’m gonna get dragged for this, but I think AI is bad. AI has completely ruined Google search and it’s created a lot more slop that needs to be avoided on the Internet.

I think Democrats should double down on trans rights now. It's obvious that most voters don't care about it so you might as well stick with your principles and goad Republicans into focusing on it at the expense of everything else so they're the ones who look like freaks.

when i worked at a daycare in 2012 the parents were paying like $300 a week! i was making roughly $300 a week so i was like “maybe i should just be nanny and only have to take care of one child???” childcare stuff is basically where the parents and the workers are all unhappy, we should fix that!
"childcare can't possibly cost 32k" for two kids? Yeah it does. 1300 a month per kid is probably a better deal than you're going to be able to find. If you weren't aware of that, then it seems like the writer of the blog isn't the one divorced from reality

yeah I think the really insane part about this is that absolutely you are paying $250-$300 per week per child but also somehow the childcare workers who have classrooms with ten or fifteen kids are also only getting paid $500 a week.

I think it’s pretty clear at this point that one of the main impacts of LLMs is to disrupt thinking: to make it so that far too many people never properly learn how to do it, and then to control the output so there are thoughts that people never learn how to think.

When the AI bubble goes I think we’re going to see an INSANE push for gambling. That includes opening physical items, sports betting, Polymarket shit, and gacha games. I think that’s the next thing, particularly because crypto, nfts, and LLM chatbots are also gambling.

really is incredible how often "men are having a problem, let's fix it using someone else's entire life" comes up. does the institute for family studies understand that children are whole complete human beings whose existence cannot be used as a coping mechanism for their fathers' anxieties? (no)
