This is me selfishly hoping this means more focus on Power Rangers. 😇

C'mon, Playmates - start cranking out those Evil Space Alien figures at a dizzying rate!

Please. 🥺
Playmates and Viacom will not be renewing their licensing agreement for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Their partnership will end on December 31st, 2026 - bit.ly/4axAYDu

Please read this whole thread about empathy and work and AI. It's friggin' fantastic.
I hadn't given much thought to the actual philosophy behind the "empathy is bad, actually" movement, because the people espousing it are so transparently anti-human that I never thought of it as having more depth than wolves having the philosophy "Sheep are tasty".

But I realized it matters to AI.

Spotted on ebay from an Australian retailer - Baboo from Playmates' Mighty Morphin #PowerRangers Re-Ignition toy line!
Is he on your wish list? Or is he a pass?

Sure, they've made an environmentally catastrophic mass hallucination disinformation plagiarism Clippy that will destabilize the world, but also their other goal is to replace human workers entirely and let us humans starve. A boycott of AI is the most important boycott of your entire life.
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

I love seeing random lots of #PowerRangers toys on ebay and wondering how on Earth a particular combination of figures spanning three decades could ever occur.

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

It is 2025, and I'm still discovering semi-obscure Disney-era Bandai America releases that weren't previously cataloged.

NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

The year is 2025. It has been 764 days since the last new episode of Power Rangers premiered.

And I just returned from a Walmart with a fully-stocked Power Rangers section with a sight never before seen - a full, dedicated peg of Rita Repulsa action figures.

Crazy 🤯

The Power Rangers channel on Roku Live TV is airing Halloween episodes today (some Halloween-adjacent and some really not).

Trick-or-Treaters managed to time their arrival with the zord battle in “Life’s a Masquerade”, but I did get to see most of the Zyu2 footage in “Trick or Treat”. 🎃

If no Super Sentai airs next year and Bandai maintains the toy license, I think it would only be fitting that they release Auto-Morphin figures that somewhat resembles the suits of the last series aired by their overseas counterparts (PRCF).

Naturally, the human faces would be the Gorenger.

I'm pro-union because I think workers should organize to balance the power that business owners have in various negotiations. It's true that unions have been weakened, but it's not because of multiculturalism. I would argue, it's because people seek to exploit divisions for their material interests.

A lot of folks may think that just yelling at ICE agents is ineffective, but consider the cumulative psychological toll of being yelled at EVERY DAY when trying to do shit. Even the biggest asshole in the world who doesn't give a shit about other people will feel the pressure.

I do not understand why television stations are not showing live coverage of how there is literally nothing happening in Portland and Chicago. I mean, Peter Jennings, Dan Rather, and Tom Brokaw would each be sitting on a set in those cities telling everyone the white house is lying.

There are many reasons why I miss the Bandai-era of #PowerRangers toys, but the top reason is easily the familiarity, which meant predictability.

With Playmates (and to a lesser extent, Hasbro before them), it's hard to believe my own eyes when what I'm seeing defies the established playbook/logic.
