The time for bold action is now! @governorferguson.bsky.social
Today I'm calling on @governorferguson.bsky.social to declare a state of emergency: the expiration of SNAP benefits for nearly one million Washingtonians will be a disaster for the health of many, and for the economic health of the state. We must join other state governments and act swiftly.

Very important to not fall for the feigned helplessness of neoliberals in control of blue state governments:

Fully administering food stamps would cost Washington at most 1% of its entire budget, and I have to believe it’d be even less for New York, California, Illinois, et al.
It kind of boggles my mind that Gov. Ferguson hasn’t done this yet? Seems like a very easy call to be able to free up other funds to support SNAP recipients.

I got this text too. It reminded me to fill out my ballot for Katie Wilson (and a ton of great progressive candidates) and get it turned in! I had (the privilege to be able) to LEAVE THE WORK FORCE for over a decade because childcare was too expensive and I am still pissed about it. VOTE!
I address the first scandal of my political life—Momgate.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

NEW: Water shutoffs are happening earlier than usual in the Yakima River Basin. Reservoir levels are at their lowest since 1971. Non-senior water rights holders are expected to receive 40% of their allotment, according to the Bureau of Reclamation, while senior holders will continue to receive full.

Americans are being conditioned to think of crime as an urban issue. Ask why.

Alabama's murder rate is far higher than New York City's.

Urban crime is not worse than rural crime. It's just more visible. In cities everything is more visible.

So be careful what you blame city leaders for.

One of the many, many defects of our parochial seven-district city council system is that council members can substitute "community feedback" (the political views house owners express at the meetings they overwhelmingly dominate) for what's best for the city. Get rid of districts!

Vote Katie Wilson!
This is a bold step by the city workers, who stand to lose a lot by angering the famously grudge-holding Mayor. It is sign of the spreading realization that Bruce is vulnerable and a sign of their courage that they are willing to take this risk.

Let's stand with the people who make Seattle work!
At a press conference at City Hall this morning, the Working Families Party and PROTEC17—the largest union of City of Seattle workers—endorsed Katie Wilson for mayor. The city union's endorsement is especially monumental because for most of these workers, incumbent Bruce Harrell is their boss.
You definitely need to be escalating your language to match their behavior. In addition to the things you listed, they are also killing people.
I think a better way to describe it is gaslighting. They definitely hate the people they are terrorizing, but the mocking does make stupid people question the seriousness of whatever it is and that helps them continue.
These are DEATH CAMPS. If these people are kept in literal cages with no medical care with lights left on 24 hours a day with one maggot infested meal a day with no hope of any due process they will end up DYING. There are DEATH CAMPS in America.

my view is that everyone should be able to earn a living wage doing whatever it is they like. if you love working in a bookshop, you should be able to live a comfortable life doing so. if you loving being a barista, the same. and if you want to do more traditional blue collar work, that’s cool too!
the other thing is that no one who fetishizes manual labor actually cares to improve life for people who are in those circumstances! no support for unionization or a generous welfare state! no interest in policies that make life easier for people who work their hands or afford them more autonomy!

“Trump is creating a secret police that will be better funded than the Marines” should be the all caps headline every Democrat is running with, and only partly because I’m sick of having to be the one who tells friends and family about it.
Again! No one highlights the ICE money. If you are posting like this, you're pitching to the white Americans you hope don't care about brown people getting kidnapped, and not to "the groups" that GET YOU ELECTED.
Senate Republicans just passed the Big Ugly Bill, which contains

- Massive tax cuts for billionaires
- Tax hikes for working Americans
- 17 million lose health care
- The biggest cuts to Medicaid and SNAP ever
- Higher energy costs
- Trillions in debt

It comes to the House now. We will fight this.
They will be so easy to find too. Even though they are wearing masks, these goons are all receiving a pay check. This aint the 1940's. We have digital footprints.
When trump's American Nazi Reich's regime is toppled, all his cabinet, his advisers, his ICE, and DOJ enablers will have to answer to U.S.C. #242, titled "Deprivation of rights under the color of law."
Great work! We still need to rid ourselves of Bruce Harrell. Vote Katie Wilson!
If you would've told me a year ago that a 30-year-old freshman councilmember could bring Harrell to the table to create a new progressive revenue source I wouldn't have believed it. It's literally unbelievable. WILD how desperate Bruce is to be seen working with Rinck. He smells what's cooking.
JUST IN: Mayor Harrell and Councilmember Rinck have announced a new proposal that would exempt around three-fourths of small businesses in Seattle from paying the Business & Occupation (B&O) tax, while raising the rate on larger businesses to raise an estimated $90 million.
The democratic establishment know that once the tide turns on them they won't ever win an election again. The future is to the LEFT of the Democratic Party and they are going to gatekeep that until the day they die (in office).
Mamdani should win but he's the latest example of the Democratic Party closing ranks to keep anyone young and exciting and full of energy out of the party - and then they spend countless millions on consultants trying to figure out why they're struggling with young voters
It could not be more clear that the Democratic Establishment is also the enemy of the people. Here in Seattle the Leader of the Progressive Caucus endorsed our DINO Mayor over a fantastic and viable Progressive candidate. Even in the face of fascism they still keep their thumb on progress.
I suppose the 6 fingered man is next.
