This isn't mine, and I can't definitively find the original source. But I love this little bit of wisdom:

"If you're a fifteen-minute walk from a coffee shop, but the server there has to drive an hour to get to work, you don't live in a walkable city. You live in a theme park."
For all the fearmongering about capital flight from New York City, there’s an exodus few want to talk about: working people.

Sky-high rents and outrageous child care costs are already pushing families out of the city they keep running.

That’s what we have to change.

Incidentally, this line is going into all @prospect.org stories on this topic from this point forward:
"Immigration agents have shot to death at least 5 and wounded 9 more in shootings nationwide during their extended terror campaign, while causing at least 32 others to die in detention camps."

Anybody well informed about the King County Conservation District supervisor candidates? Do any of them seem better for urbanism or social justice? @brittneybush.bsky.social @theurbanist.org @finchfrii.bsky.social kingcd.org/about/board-...

Each mayor has to pedestrianize one street for every point scored by the opposing team.
I just want both teams’ urbanist mayors @wutrain.bsky.social & @mayorofseattle.bsky.social to make some sort of sweet transit oriented bet on the Super Bowl. Winner gets a lifetime CharlieCard or ORCA Card?
I’m not the biggest sports fan but it would be nice if the Seahawks could give Mayor Wilson a Super Bowl win right out of the gate.

Jim Pattison, BC grocer billionaire, owns a US warehouse that will soon be an ICE facility. Let’s crank up the boycott pressure on Pattison and organize for a real tax on these ghouls. This is a stark reminder of how the billionaire class aids and abets fascist forces.

This is a white supremacist paramilitary operation. Their goal—their stated goal!—is to force America to submit to the President's racist domineering vision for the country.

The sooner everybody starts confronting it on the terms that they themselves have stated, the better.

This is the way. Any 2028 Dem candidates need to start saying that on Day One: (1) all ICE agents fired; (2) pensions/benefits defunded; (3) forced to pay backpay as restitution to victims; and (4) only way to avoid prison is to become a cooperating informant
Maybe instead of identifying specific ICE agents who do particularly heinous things, we could just penalize everyone who was on payroll at the agency starting by a certain date.

ICE agents need to know that there is no statute of limitations for murder.

And murder is a state crime.

And he eventually throws everyone under the bus and will not protect you in the long run.

You have a choice. Resign now before it’s too late and encourage your colleagues to do the same.

ICE has now carried out two summary executions of innocent people in the streets of an American city.

If you work for ICE, there's no denying that's the mission you're supporting now. You don't get to claim in one year or ten or twenty that you didn't know what ICE was doing. You're complicit.

MN can toll stats of limitations when feds obstruct justice. MN did it for COVID. Courts upheld for the I-35W bridge. This bill pauses the clock on claims against federal agents until accountability is possible—no new liability, just preserved rights. I drafted a bill for you, @governorwalz.mn.gov .

It would take a two-word amendment to 42 U.S.C. § 1983 to subject ICE agents and other federal law enforcement officers to the same liability for constitutional violations that local and state officers currently face.

If Congress actually cared about what it's seeing, it could pass that overnight.
