Walking somewhere around Seattle. We need to lead with bikes and buses.

THIS. Cycling in the US has been marketed as a form of fitness, not as mode of transportation, and not as source of joy & delight. We need to change that. Cycling is liberating; it allows you to engage with the world around you.
She said her husband won't ride with her. He tells her the bike does all the work for her and she's not getting exercise.

I told her about the nature of the bicycle being born of transportation. It's only Americans who have slapped the belief that they are for exercise on them.

Good evening, Transit Riders!

With the election over, I thought I'd release this video I made and (thankfully) never had to post!

Concise explanation, concrete CTA, very minimal editing, under 2hrs from thought to finished product.

Awesome job mayor-elect @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social!

Not easy going on national media, but this was spot on.

I think when you know who you are and stay true to your values, it makes interviews like this easier.

City/State issues might get wonky to talk about on a national media platform.

It is our responsibility to make affordability THE issue of our time, and enact solutions.

Seattle will prove we can build a better nation for ALL! 🫡

Lots of buzz about the "affordability agenda," and how we get there.

Well, this is it. Housing and transport are most of the cost of living for most people. We can make it expensive, or we can make it affordable.

No car? No problem. Building apartments near public transit could help address the housing crisis
Quantavia Smith, who was often homeless for a decade, now has a studio apartment in Los Angeles with easy access to public transit.

~56% of seattle residents are renters
Council President Nelson pulled the amendment from @councilmember-amr.bsky.social to add $400,000 to restore funding to tenant services for a full council vote. This is an amendment supported by the Seattle Renters' Commission.

My most woke opinion is that cities should completely ignore suburban commuters and design the city we aspire to be. They’ll either begrudgingly commute in by car, mode shift, or be replaced by others in foot traffic
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

While Katie Wilson didn’t have *elected* experience, she has been a dedicated political operative in Seattle and the surrounding region for *more than a decade*

She has tons of legislative and electoral wins, and understands how to both work with city councils & work around them at the ballot box

We took on a powerful incumbent who was expected to coast to reelection.

We faced more corporate PAC money than has ever been spent attacking a candidate in a Seattle election.

We built a people-powered movement rooted in hope for our city’s future.

And we won.

This is YOUR city!

That's a wrap on the Seattle Mayor's race: Katie Wilson wins it by 1,975 votes after the final remaining ballots were counted today.

That takes the race out of automatic recount territory as the gap is >0.5%
