I got to volunteer with both Rep. Katie Jones and my city council member Aisha Chughtai at their booths on Hennepin Open Streets! But man, I miss when Open Streets festivals were run by Our Streets. This one just didn't have the same zing. However, the skirt situation at Aisha's booth was top tier!

I know there's disappointment about Hennepin County's proposed design for Lyndale not including dedicated space for bikes. Whether the county wants to listen or not, I have never felt more support for better and safer streets. I feel good about that.

My neighbor has had a smoke alarm with low battery beeping for 3 days now, and genuinely, how do people live like that?

I once walked 3 miles round trip at 1 am to find a store that was open so I could buy a battery and make my alarm stop, and that was preferable to listening to it beep!

No matter what the DFL tries to say, remember that this happened. Multiple progressive campaigns spent months organizing and beat Frey so bad he staged a failed walk out and subsequently had to manipulate the state party into overturning the clear result. This can happen again in November.

In 2024, the City of Minneapolis logged steady and meaningful progress in making our transportation system safer, more comfortable, and more equitable for travelers of all modes.

Some stats from last week's Your City Your Streets annual report: lims.minneapolismn.gov/Download/RCA...

Since 2017, the City has built:
- 45 miles of new or upgraded protected bike facilities
- 6,652 ADA ramp upgrades
- 72 miles of improved pedestrian realm
- 1,791 curb extensions

In 2024, the City built:
- 121 intersection upgrades
- 46 signal upgrades
- 7 miles of safety conversions
- 28.4 miles of work overall, of which 11 were in equity priority areas

In 2024 the City improved 9.6 miles of pedestrian realm, including:
- 212 curb extensions
- 1 sidewalk gap closed
- 8.7 miles of improved pedestrian lighting
- 1,305 ADA ramp upgrades
- 32 pedestrian islands

In 2024 the City installed 8.2 miles of new bikeway facilities, 6.9 of which were protected and 3.3 of which were in equity priority areas

We used to take our N95s off when we stepped outside, now we put on N95s on when we step outside! Never thought I'd be nostalgic for the days when I didn't think about the air.
