There is no easier or more important political position to take than to do everything possible to stop this. It will change our society forever, and Democrats are going along with it.

How many ICE and CBP agents are in Minnesota right now? We deserve to know. How many will be here as of Tuesday? Thursday? We deserve to know.

Non-Minnesotans, be clear on this: the *one and only* thing they do is racial profiling. The *only* thing. Ask anyone here! If you look nonwhite, Latino particularly, ICE will target you. It’s really as simple as that
Homan: "When they say 'stop racial profiling' -- that's just not occurring. ICE will briefly detain and question somebody based on reasonable suspicion. It has nothing to do with racial profiling."

What did Operation Metro Surge accomplish? Feds say 4,000 people were detained -- but many, if not most, were later released. We now have fewer fraud prosecutors than ever. State prisons/county jails say no holding policies have changed. More from Pioneer Press: www.twincities.com/2026/02/14/o...
If Operation Metro Surge is over, did it accomplish its goals?
Border czar Tom Homan said the federal law enforcement presence in Minnesota would be scaled back as its multi-pronged mission had been accomplished.

I wonder when we'll be ready to talk about how schools are now full of gameified dopamine slot machine apps for learning times tables, science, even reading itself, that are priming an entire generation for gambling and gaming addiction.
A book I highly recommend on electronic slot machines—which fully convinced me they should be illegal for how they systematically mislead our brains—is Natasha Dow Schüll‘s ADDICTION BY DESIGN

Gamified online gambling seems much worse, & is becoming much more ubiquitous

It will immiserate so many
I see no reason not to look at the online gambling and prediction market craze as a new opioids crisis.

It will wreak havoc on lower-income Americans and leave a trail of destruction and despair in its wake.

The companies are just Purdue Pharma 2.0

Disband ICE and give their budget to the IRS Criminal Investigation branch. Surging these guys in the Hamptons and Palm Beach would reap the greatest benefits for the American public of any law enforcement action.

It was plenty busy on Wednesday morning right when the museum opened!
Everyone is here at the Dyani White Hawk exhibit at the Walker. Last weekend, free admission today. It’s like the State Fair in here.

People wearing overalls.

Meanwhile, the Small Business Administration will no longer give loans to green card-holders.
If we were a healthy society looking toward the future, we'd be giving out work permits to undocumented folks instead of terrorizing and deporting them.
Remarkable: Majority of working class voters oppose deportations of undocumented immigrants with jobs/no criminal records, per new Marquette data.

Remember how pundits said 2024 meant Dems must become restrictionist to win back working class? I challenge that here:

As we know, I sometimes do a (very quick and dirty) family tree for some of the most ardent and loud white supremacists of our time. It’s a quick tree, because I don’t want to spend more than 20-30 minutes on it (while also making sure I’m correct). So about Megyn Kelly…

This is what Republicans want. Vote every last one of them out, no matter the office. Don't let these monsters anywhere near government again.
In the early morning, ICE raided the elementary school bus stop during the pick-up time, causing panic among the 4th and 5th graders. This unfortunate event took place outside the Woodland Village Apartments in Lindenwold, New Jersey.

Exactly this. We worry about ppl stealing from government in MN but are we worried about grasping businessmen inventing all the new ways to profit from 9/11?
DHS is just a relic from the overreaction to 9/11 and all the opportunistic skullduggery that took advantage of it. There was never any need for it. Let it be dead. Its abrupt dissolution will be a bit chaotic but fuck it we ball.

This so perfectly describes elected Minnesota Republicans in this moment.
The vast majority of Republican politicians would rather be officeholders in a dictatorship than citizens in a democracy. They have chosen to be traitors.

The bill cuts the stretcher requirement in small bldgs at risk of having no elevator at all (up to 6 stories, 24 units), as well as ordering the building code council to reconsider the issues of elevator hoistway opening protection and two-way visual comms. Tens of thousands in savings per building.
By a 41-7 vote, the Washington Senate just directed the state's building code council to adopt updated regulations for elevators in buildings with up to six stories or 24 units, "minimally sized to meet federal accessibility requirements."

This is a great example of something this administration does that is so unbelievable, it undermines your credibility to report it. They couldn't have done this, could they? Could they? Could they?
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.
