Just tax the rich properly, FFS!
Hell, without even changing any current tax rates, just enforcing high earners and (international) corporations pay the taxes they owe would bring in billions.
To put that these Motability cuts into perspective...

It will save around £300 million.

Latest figures show the DWP has spent over £400 million fighting people on PIP appeals.

Scrap policies that punish Disabled people & stop pretending it's about economic efficiency! #Budget

Good morning, while everyone is waiting for the budget to be announced it’s a good time to say that immigration is a source of prosperity for the UK and painting Britain as a hostile state is sabotaging the country. Thanks!

This, so much.
Those people wouldn't even notice if the relatively tiny amount I would need to live (once my current situation is sorted and all debts are paid off) was missing from their account.
They could support thousands of people like me without being inconvenienced in any way.
It's actually pretty shocking how, until recently, no one with a platform made the point of how ridiculous it is to think that v wealthy ppl would completely upend their lives just cause they'd be made to pay 2% of their vast wealth, which they can't use anyway (as they have more than they can spend)

While the Carers Allowance Overpayment scandal is obviously incredibly important, it's also worth paying attention to the bigger picture.

Carer's Allowance is £4331.60 a year and requires you to provide at least 35 hours of care (most do more).

Minimum wage for 35 hours is £20,512.80 a year.

REMINDER: if you think your right-on lefty/socialist/communist/etc. politics justifies pirating books, well guess what? Most writers don't make a living wage from their books or writing work, and stealing from them makes you a class traitor.

I was today years old when I heard of this, and some people have downloaded some of my work too--without paying me, of course.

Folks. Please pay authors. Use real libraries, not piracy sites posing as "open-source archives." Our books are still in print. If you want more, please pay us for them.
I posted a buy link here to "A Magical Inheritance" a few days ago, and 24 of you immediately went to Anna's Archives and fucking stole it from me.

Yes, stole it.

I do not get paid for your download there because YOU ARE STEALING FROM ME.

maybe we just say 'if your AI said it we're treating it as if your CEO said it to their face' for the purposes of liability
The fact that the bot told this kid that rope is “the most classic” method for hanging yourself is insane

Where to begin? Obvious ones: My ears are quite low on my head (see avatar) and I have strabismus.
Allegedly I'm missing a vertebra in my neck (or it could just be very short) so anything with a stiff collar is a nightmare. 1/2
Ok query time. Biology is messy and full of exceptions. How does *your* body differ from the usual expected of you as the human you are? Anything big or small.

My mum has an extra vertebrae, a close friend multiple spleens. One sis is built like she works out but eats like a sparrow.

However, if you're hosting dinner that includes alcohol (wine, vermouth etc.) as an ingredient, DO ask them if they're OK with it.
Acohol in wine/spirits never evaporates completely so can cause problems for those with intolerances or are recovering from alcoholism.
Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

Bugger. :(
Udo Kier has passed away at 81. A singular screen presence, Kier had a long history in the horror genre, starring in films including Mark of the Devil, Andy Warhol's Frankenstein, Blood for Dracula, Blade, Feardotcom, Rob Zombie's Halloween, and Dario Argento's Mother of Tears.

The thing about the setting to make alt text mandatory is that Bluesky didn't bother making that the default.

Like, you have to by default opt-in to see sexually suggestive images, so they clearly know how powerful default configs are, but for alt text they've never cared enough.

Thread but also just don't tell Paypal anything. No "what is this for" you both know what it's for. If you send a friend some money for dinner or something and you say "for friday night", even odds they get banned as a sex worker.
PayPal has rolled out a new "feature" that prompts you to leave feedback about an artist that you've commissioned via invoice.

Whatever you do, DO NOT fill this out! To quote Admiral Ackbar, "IT'S A TRAP!!!" It is meant to misguide you.
