Turns out I slept like a (normal, non-twisted) rock so I’m free to go back to the audiobook in the daytime without nightmares.

I will as a consequence learn ABSOLUTELY NOTHING from this experience and continue to read creepy books at bedtime. What could possibly go wrong!!
