Part of the Civil Rights Movement was a dignity claim that when you are in public you have a right to be spoken to in a neutral manner. Hamilton v. Alabama. This service worker may hate to serve me Cinnabons, but it is part of her job to serve every customer in the same manner.
ah yes, all workers should have the right to hurl racial slurs at black customers
“Those of us on the left should be fighting to improve protections for workers of all races, and thereby for the betterment of people’s material conditions regardless of their views,” Arash Azizi argues:

So far the Game awards have given me the only scenario where I get excited about a Star Wars game and Miss Piggy. That’s 2-for-2 in the first couple of minutes of a show that normally gives me so many 0s I crawl out of my skin.

The Texas Supreme Court said in October that judges may decline to perform marriages based on their religious beliefs.

In response, Denise Hernández, a queer Latina judge, threw a Big Gay Wedding Party. With the @19thnews.org, we sent a fabulous photographer.

I had a long talk with someone yesterday about how all prior logic and norms about the labor market have been called off because capital is in the final push to finally casualize white collar workers the way they’ve long wanted to do. From AI to non-competes to this. They smell blood in the water.

I'll say again: we are oddly selective about the government services about which we will say, they operate at a loss.

We say Amtrak and the post office "lose money" but we never say highways, the court system, the Pentagon, etc lose money
The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

3.5 weeks into a 2 month round of steroids for a truly catastrophic Crohn’s flare-up and — while the pain is still bad and I’ve lost like 15 lbs — I’m starting to feel like myself again. Today’s goals may surpass “shower” and “don’t vomit.” Sorry-not-sorry for the flex.

The guy who invented it went on to invent a precise medicine dispensing system that Coke used to make the Coke Freestyle, so he did in fact end up creating one of the great inventions of our era
Younger people who didn't witness it cannot fathom the hype around the Segway. Every news station agreed it would revolutionize the entire social fabric of the Earth. That all future humans would divide history between the savage days of the past, and the soon to be new era of zoom zoom scoot scoot.
