Ahhh, can’t help but think of myself as a trainee all those years ago, sitting on the pond, reading ‘Counselling for Toads’! As wise as Heron is, I don’t think I’ve ever become quite so regal…night owl is here to stay🦉

In the darkest days of 8th Amendment censorship all info on abortion was forbidden in the Irish republic.
What existed was a clandestine phone network, and strangers meeting desperate women off coaches in the UK.

So my subject was the boots I wore 42 years ago campaigning against the 8th, wore them to campaign for Repeal too.
1st print is rough, but I like it's rawness.

During my annual August visits home these boots and I would pop into pharmacies and brazenly ask for condoms. Meeting spluttering condemnation with a refusal to be shamed.
