I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

NEW: Colorado's election clerks are increasingly upset that Gov Jared Polis (D) hasn't ruled out releasing Tina Peters to the Trump administration.

On a call today, a bipartisan group of elected clerks said Polis hasn't agreed to meet with them about their concerns.

How much time and resources did this administration spend on finding a WHITE turkey for Trump to "pardon."
JFC

I'm not a turkey scholar, but I have reason to suspect that a white turkey is not actually representative of the US turkey population.

Today I, in the context of my place of employment, have again been aversely affected by Trump executive orders, threatening funds that impact my position and the viability of the org that employs me.

This is happening to people everywhere every hour of every day.

I Hate it here.

Ppl are excited that the Dems prospects are good in the midterms, myself included. But the irreversible damage done is immeasurable & efforts toward reversal of what we might reclaim represent a challenge larger than Dem Pols are generally capable of rising, or attempting to rise.

Or, like a f*cking numbskull, who is willfully ignorant enough to think people work like batteries.

This is partly true but moreso DOGE teams have become fully part of the departments they were integrated with and are very much alive and a part of normal processes now
The "DOGE is gone" articles are clickbait but this one gets it closer to the truth: DOGE is not gone, it just claims to have "no centralized leadership" anymore -- in other words, its leadership is hiding in an attempt to avoid blame.
DOGE no longer has ‘centralized leadership’ under White House tech team, personnel head says
The team that was altered to house DOGE — formerly the U.S. Digital Service — is also still doing its own technology work across agencies.

The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.
