We are well aware that times are tight for everyone - but every penny helps #UHI staff fight back against these cuts

This time two years ago this was me. Can’t believe @UHI are doing this again.

Love and solidarity to my old comrades and a special shout out to Sorcha for the wit and humour x
Amazing turnout at our first strike day challenging compulsory redundancies at @thinkuhi.bsky.social

I hope that something like that happens here. I suppose I better get involved in some of the community groups.
I’m so depressed at the thought of fucking gammon wife beaters coming in to ‘protect’ me from people I have no issue with.
Sorry I didn’t see it was a BS post. It’s also on Facebook and honestly the glee in the comments is disturbing. It’s going to be horrible here once the flag shaggers turn up.
Fergus Ewing has the same suspects ranting on. I’m not really convinced any of them actually live in Inverness either. They make it sound like the barracks are on the high st and they aren’t.
It would actually be good if they were allowed to work, there is a massive skills shortage here and even just getting labour for building work is impossible.

Still, I for one am excited by the prospect of a bunch of wife beaters and paedos being bussed in for the aggro in my lovely wee town.
Why on earth do asylum seekers need to be more than half a mile from Inverness high street? Is he worried that they might take over an empty shop front and rejuvenate the local economy
This is just one of many Scottish politicians leaning into racism-lite language. It’s incredibly depressing.
Lib Dem MP here expressing concerns that “migrants” (in fact asylum seekers, or “human beings”, as they’re also known) might be allowed to live next door to people, and near a high street
There were still loads and loads of racists in the comments though.

So... if we offer people hope and a better way of life then they _don't_ vote fascist?

Interesting!

I suspect that I can perform better blue collar masculinity than those guys.
i mean i don't think you can separate any of this discussion from the fact that so many of the participants are men who clearly have hang-ups about their inability to perform a certain kind of blue collar masculinity
Does Your Party Scotland support Scottish independence?
I feel incredibly sorry for her kids.
Reform UK MP Sarah Pochin, “It drives me mad seeing adverts full of black people, full of Asian people, full of anything other than white"

Followed by that time Sarah Pochin said, "My kids say: mum, you're such a moron" 👀

Same-sex relationships have always been part of rural England, but they've been underrepresented in our collections.

In the first of 2 episodes, @timjerrome.bsky.social shares his work tracing queer rural lives in The MERL archives.

So all the accounts of people living in Gaza that I follow have been deleted.
