Sometimes when I meet Greek-speakers from Lebanon, Australia, Romania, I get a very very faint impression of the kind of diaspora community that must have been far far stronger for 19th century Jews. And that Greek diaspora feeling is still very significant!

Best to not actually pick up any alleged tear gas or smoke grenade or projectile. Too hot. And there’s been a lot of use of flashbangs. The misfire rate on them is not zero. Only a matter of time before some damn fool bleeds out because they lost a hand

Thank you, that's really helpful. By the cause do you mean a general nationalist path which could possibly be acceptable to, for example, the Israeli labour movement and left liberals?

I love writing for games and getting to slip in little bits of historiography. In one storylet I’ve covered ambiguity in material culture, “truth” and “emotional truth”, and the need to research the everyday alongside the exceptional 🫡

So what I like about agroecology is the idea that, actually, everyone who grows or gathers is a scientist.

Because it also fits with what we are starting to re-learn about how scientific and inventive people in the distant past actually were.

Never accept the xenophobic description of the world, that things such as 'strange' cultures or peoples exist. The strange, the xenos, is always something that is the result of a decision to treat people in a particular way.
