I'm horrified by the shooting of Charlie Kirk at a college event in Utah.

Political violence has no place in our country.

I think the shirts are standard, generated by some city agency somewhere, and then Eric Adams gets his own name embroidered on his because he is a virtuosically weird person; my remaining question is whether he does so on the public fisc or his own dime

even before he pointed at his chest & said "This polo shirt I'm wearing that says Eric Adams, Mayor of the City of New York? I'm going to wear that for another 4 years," I thought, is there like a city agency tasked with embroidering the mayor's name? but of course there isn't

very funny that some of the same people who spent years calling anyone sympathetic to BLM a “racial essentialist” are now up in arms that a ugandan-born south asian man would describe himself as african and asian because, of course, you can only choose one

this is why I have always believed in my heart that JKR should have been deplatformed for stochastic terrorism in 2021 when Trump was. she really helped normalize the idea that there was a “feminist” case for transphobia and how to frame it as a defense of women and girls. may her soul rot
it is wild how many non-trans people seem to be taking an issue with this extremely correct thread: transphobia was an extreme minority position that was isolated to fringe reactionary christian conservatives, but through "liberal" publications laundering bigoted talking points it became accepted
There was an elite consensus against transphobia so strong Texas’ Republican Speaker of the House Joe Straus refused to pass a transphobic law, the public broadly agreed, and then a few elite liberals took it upon themselves to make transphobia popular and more or less succeeded.

I do not want to hear a Democrat say the word “bipartisan” in a positive manner ever again
I don't care what we have to do but if you support Hakeem Jeffries becoming the next Speaker you are not serious about fighting fascism

The pro-Mamdani anti-Mamdani split is another one of those that’s not really left vs center but rather more like on the level of having principles or not
the New York Times leadership literally thinks they're the most important thing in the world. they hated Biden because he preferred talking to a security guard than to them. they hate Mamdani because he's not performing the obligatory genuflections + he beat their preferred groper.

they made jamelle delete an accurate criticism but allowed a news-side guy to spend all day openly sneering and spitting in the faces of people who accurately noted that his story allowed a guy who spread CSAM without rebuttal to spout lies
I deleted several posts about a Times story because they violated Times social media standards.

This story should not have been published. They hint at an accusation (Mamdani said he is black to get into a fancy college) they can't back up. That this was published tells me that Mamdani's most important opponent may not be Cuomo or Adams but a paper whose NEWS section will run stuff like this.
You know, when I heard that all of our personal data had been hacked, I didn't expect the first major use of it to be the NYT trying to fuck over Zohran but maybe I'm naive www.nytimes.com/2025/07/03/n...

worth noting the pipeline here:
* Trump-supporting anons hack Columbia data
* Nazi twitter accounts dig around in the data
* NYT picks up on Nazi substack posts, publishes Zohran story to damage his campaign
* Chris Rufo immediately boosting the story
