I’m an ER doc who has responded to hundreds of events like this in the hospital & on planes and other public spaces. The right side of this photo is like exhibit A of normal human behavior in these circumstances. People rush to help so instinctively that part of the skill of a code is crowd control.

Olga gets it. It’s the same for non-parent caregivers. It’s the same for single/unpartnered people. We’re all exhausted and struggling. There is no damn village.
Many parenting books and articles advise “It takes a village” and “Don’t be afraid to ask for help.” The problem is, @olgakhazan.bsky.social writes, “I didn’t have a village,” and many other moms don’t either:
