Seeing fieldworkers produce their own histories, knowledge, narratives, and generally assert their power and voice over the world has been sugarcane plantation owners' greatest fear.

It was transforming the biggest NFL stage in the world into a sugar cane plantation that did it for me.

Like, the multiple layers of turning an American icon into a plantation and highlighting the history of exploitation of Black and Brown bodies by the NFL and American colonialism simultaneously?

Generalize your skeets. What’s your most typical, most average skeet?

"Neither the CB nor AI will save us and we should be insulted by those who continue to sell the snake oil."

“My students did something weird and I am angry about fascism. Also, AI is probably bad for us, but what if it wasn’t?”

Would love to see my union stand in solidarity.

Another good idea I saw in the thread was to buy a gift card from a place or two that is sticking on the 23rd.

Do I have any MN peeps on here?

@erbeckman.bsky.social can I send you a gift card?
there are a bunch of big names on this list, including multiple beard award winners, and some places i never would have guessed in a hundred years (the malt shop?!) and i'm genuinely floored and delighted to see so many participants

Conversation happening in our house tonight you can feel free to weigh in on.

Do you think someone who has a history degree and teaches high school history is a historian?

Curious what you all out there think.

I finally had some time to watch Al Jazeera's new documentary series on the British, French, and Spanish empires - and man let me tell you the AI slop, and resulting inaccuracies, were really disappointing to see.

Neither here nor there, but the ending of Netflix's Marco Polo will have to go down as Exhibit A on why you don't end a season on a cliff hanger in the streaming age.

President Trump’s actions today with Venezuela raise more questions than answers. Is America going to be involved in running and stabilizing Venezuela? Today's actions raise many questions about the stability of the region and our policy towards South America.

We need to do a better job of teaching our students that the US want for control over the Americas is not some recent fever dream.
