This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

I want people to understand that "can AI replace (teachers, doctors, etc)?" isn't a question of technological capacity, it is a political and social question. Can the technology do X? If you adapt X a bit, yes Do we want it to? Does the good of doing that outweigh the cost? Real questions.

We did back to back feises in detroit/windsor when I was a kid. It's close!! Looks like they've moved the schedules around these days though so they aren't the same weekend.

we say this a lot, but it’s all part of the same conservative endgoals. defund schools. defund libraries. drive up the cost of reading materials. ban reading materials. buy out and shut down or censor all forms of news media. censor every form of communication with the populace. the aim is the same.
i think a lot about how 19th century mass literacy was fueled by cheap reading material (penny papers) which made fiction affordable even for children. im sure every book being $30 will be fine and have no consequences.
