The Biden administration actually tried to do something about it but you’re here almost exclusively because the first Trump administration opened the flood gates and then undid everything Biden tried to fix
My in-laws have a landline and they have already received 7 scam phone calls on it this morning.
The inability (or refusal; my largely ignorant assumption is that it’s a little of both) of government to do anything about this problem is maddening and corrosive.

I genuinely don't get the NIMBY theory of make rent go down. To the extent they have one, it's fantasy: a ban on people moving into the city. The municipal government making rents lower by fiat. It'd be more productive to leave housing policy and become a full-time Wookiepedia editor.

Haven’t we known already that much of the AI slop on facebook is generated and reposted by accounts outside America?
Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.
My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

Hard for me to say how this is different from Fox News's entire business model, except that it's less sophisticated. This is transparently and obviously bad — and Elon should ban these accounts — but the spirit here of trading rage for money is pretty much a lot of right-wing media.

My best guess is Yglesias is using post-liberal as a kind of catch-all that includes "wokeism" and democratic socialists. While you can find illiberal elements there, it's not post-liberalism.
For a true example of a centre-left party that has been captured by post-liberalism, Labour's right there.
