ACL 2-timer who skis, kicks soccer balls on turf and golf courses, drives a boxy unicorn, drinks whisk(e)y and beer, loves dogs, and enjoys sportsball teams from Portland and Pittsburgh and Vermont (my point of origin) and Oviedo. Also, alpine ski racing.

Since I'm spending a little more time here, I thought I'd put this out there for my ACL fam going through it:
I believe in you. You can do this. You will be back, better than ever. #ACLcomeback #ACLrecovery #ACLrehab #ACLsurgery
Johnson and Wiles sitting 1-4, with Jackie just 0.45 back. Table is set for a great duel between Shiffrin and Moltzan, who are 1st and 6th in the World Cup slalom standings so far this season.

Breezy!!! Absolutely put one down! Fantastic run, my goodness. Shiffrin ought to be very happy as well.

Nice run from Jackie Wiles! Couple spots could have been cleaner, but hopefully has set Moltzan up well for the slalom so far at 0.39 off the lead.

Tough break for Goggia of Italy just now. Glad she's okay.

Absolutely love this from Svindal, a badass Norwegian downhiller in his career (and one of my favorites to watch) before coaching Vonn in her comeback.

Bad news for all the armchair skiing “experts”

“A lot of people have a lot of opinions about what happened yesterday and most of them are incorrect”
Lindsey Vonn's Olympic teammate sets armchair skiing experts straight
When you hook a gate at high speed, as Vonn did in the Olympic downhill, there is little chance of making a recovery, said Keely Cashman.

Not to be lost here with all the focus on the Johnson/Shiffrin pairing is a *very* legit contender pair of Paula Moltzan and Portland's own Jackie Wiles. Wiles was 4th in the downhill yesterday, and Moltzan has a whole mess of top-5 finishes on the World Cup tour this season. Gonna be a great event!

Lots of people in this country are historically illiterate and this is at the root of many of our problems.
Bad Bunny’s performance began in the plantation, featured broken electric poles, and ended by centering a hemispheric understanding of “América”—among many other things—and some Anglo journalists are like “his performance wasn’t political.”

This is why we need to be telling our stories.

Got up early to catch the slalom portion of the men's alpine team combined. Really fun watch but it'd be better if they would show the downhill portion results on-screen between racers in the slalom.

loved every second of Bad Bunny. That message of inclusion and a celebration of cultures like Puerto Rico’s is just what America needs right now. Plus, his music just gets you in motion. 10/10

Michelle Obama tried to get schoolkids to eat more vegetables and the right wing treated it like Maoist indoctrination.
Can someone remind me if I’m supposed to be angry about the woke scolds running the government, or if I’m supposed to pump my fist and say “Fuck yeah, eating salami, meatballs and chili to own the libs!!!”

What a run from Breezy Johnson to win the downhill today. Not perfect, but damn good on a tough-looking course. Portland's own Jackie Wiles just off the podium in 4th some nice skiing. So proud of them both!

Gutted for Lindsey Vonn, though. Lots of skiers got twisted up on that early jump.

Our opinion page published a guest piece on Lindsey Vonn that was misogynistic trash. I had thoughts.
Your Lindsey Vonn advice is misogynistic trash. Keep it to yourself
A recent opinion piece about Lindsey Vonn was ill-informed, condescending and misogynistic. Here's why.
