America is an ideal, a promise it has sometimes strived for but has always fallen short of. Even if I recognize that failure, I believe in the promise, and I’m not handing over that promise to a bunch of fucking fascists.
“When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross” goes both ways. Calling the U.S. a irredeemable hell hole cedes ideological ownership of American identity to the fascists. The U.S. is imperfect but not irredeemable and they don’t get to decide who is American.

In the car with 5yo daughter.

Daughter: “What’s four plus four?”

Me, trying to get her to think through it: “I don’t know, what *is* four plus four?”

Daughter begins starting intently at her fingers like she’s counting.

Daughter, confidently: “Nine hundred!”

This is called “chain refoulment” and it’s illegal under both U.S. and international law. And the State Department and ICE know very well what Ghana is doing and simply don’t care.
ICE deported a woman who owned a home in the US for 30 years. A judge banned ICE from deporting her to Sierra Leone where she had been tortured, so it deported her to Ghana, which kidnapped her and sent her back Sierra Leone anyway. ICE is part of this illegal conspiracy.

The military has a duty to refuse unlawful orders, but Congress has a duty to remove from office a president and secretary who would issue such orders. There is something off about members of Congress talking about the former while refusing to say the latter, the part that's actually their job here.

It's not social media or supposed attacks on masculinity that are causing the (largely made up) " male loneliness epidemic."

It's that some men choose to be people who nobody in their right mind would want to be around.

Dear Dem Leadership,

Stop trying to fundraise off this shit.

Do something about it. Grandstand, make a scene, stall, object to Unanimous Consent. Take this shit seriously and make a goddamn big deal about it because its a goddamn big deal.
Holy living fuck. How is this real life?

“Someone called for my execution! I will do nothing about this but please donate to my campaign!”

People were arguing in my mentions today about whether the Earth is "round" when it's technically an irregular oblate spheroid and look "round" doesn't mean "absolutely perfect sphere" it means round. A soccer ball is round, a cantaloupe is round, a fluffy borb in winter is round, just go with it.

To our knowledge, this is the first editorial board in the United States to call for Trump's impeachment.
“Congress should condemn the threats, denounce the rhetoric, and insist that a president who openly promotes executing lawmakers for expressing accurate legal information is unfit to serve…This latest felony is beyond the pale and warrants his impeachment.”

THREAD: Judge Ellis is the first federal judge to review extensive body cam video of DHS's actions in Chicago. She finds that DHS *repeatedly* misled the public and made claims that were disproven by agents' own videos.

I'll go through some of the most egregious ones here.

a message to Congress:
There is one and only position that makes any sense if you really take it seriously: say openly and unapologetically that he must be removed from office. Not just call on people to condemn it, not just fret about norms. He is literally trying to kill you. Act like it.

It’s not just that people don’t know there are simpler ways to do things. It’s that they’re being TOLD to integrate Ai into everything. I’m reminded, again, of the radium craze. Radium is not magic and nor is Ai. Both are, unfortunately, harmful.

The Danish Social Democrats are currently on course for their worst election result since at least the Second World War, despite their brand of far-right accommodationism being touted as a blueprint for other centre-left parties.
