fwiw uncle o’grimacey is more unsettling than any of the old ones

I am amused by the fact that, despite many attempts, the only people that AI can actually do a passable job at replacing are programmers.

Passable here meaning “not disastrously,” not “good.”

Dunno if it’s a mobile issue, but that link isn’t working

FWIW most of one’s thirties are pretty mid

The FBI already *has* that, if they want. Do you really think there’s any activist space worth knowing about that they aren’t already perfectly aware of?

What they *don’t* have is unlimited resources. Time spent talking to middle class cis white people is time not spent on the actually vulnerable.

So your question is “has a public figure considered decent ever turned out to be bad?” And you find that impossible to conceive of?

This is like saying “clearly, a doctor can’t detect heart problems if they refer you for more testing and it comes back negative.”
moltenberle.bsky.social
This has nothing to do with contemporary “AI,” and the errors are due to oversensitivity rather than the hallucination issues of genAI. The main issue is that the writer or editor seems to think that “heart failure” is a binary rather than a spectrum.

Yeah, this.

People hear “Bermuda Triangle” and picture a relatively small area where ships are always disappearing.

In reality, it’s larger than the Gulf of Mexico, and about a quarter to a half the size of the entire USA.

I feel like it’s probably very recognized by the time you’ve gotten to this point, the people around you just don’t want to bring it up.

hi, writing expert here! this is not funny, crime fiction writers only do this when they're in extreme distress

Either way it would stay where it is, as “pumpkin spice” is just a specific blend of spices, and similarly unrelated to literal pumpkins.

wait, does yours not?

Almost certainly not; that has relatively little resemblance to Cosby in the late 70s (or OJ, another guess I’ve seen), and it doesn’t match any notable photos I’ve seen. Much more likely it’s a photo of a politician or previous editor (this is the Daily Planet, right?).

Yeah, but if they were trying to do this one thing that there’s no reason to think they are, it might be slightly difficult.

Also, they’re forgetting that BG3 already explicitly retconned large swathes of BG2’s Throne of Bhaal which would have been incompatible with the story.

Worth noting that this isn’t necessarily the case, and depends on state laws. Legally, consenting for one party to record isn’t necessarily the same as consenting for another party to record.

Whether or not CGE’s portion of the profits are going to a good cause, the licensing costs they’re paying out mean any sales of this at all are still funding Rowling’s crusade.

She makes just as much off this as she did before their announcement.

In fact, she probably makes *more* now, as this will likely increase sales.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the average 30 year old right now is in a far more sound position financially than the average 40 year old.

I mean, there’s a big chunk of people who were leaving college right as the 2008 crisis hit, effectively kneecapping them as they joined the workforce. Cut to a few years later, post-recession, and they’re now competing for entry level jobs with new graduates who are at least as skilled and cheaper.

When it turned out that the extra cash wasn’t enough, though, they were left with underpaid writers, unprinted books, *and* the issues that started it all.

Basically the classic situation with a gambler going to a pawn shop or loan shark, certain they’ll make back more than enough to cover it all.
