Many disabled folks rely on powered devices to keep them alive. The extreme heat of summer often causes power outages, which kills disabled people.

This is a downstream devastation of climate change - and why climate justice is so important.

It’s the marginalized who will suffer the most.
People with disabilities will often be impacted harder & faster by extreme weather events.

Check on the disabled people in your life. See if they have contingency plans and include them in emergency preparedness.

The last power outage nearly sent me to hospital 🧵

Really important story - army officials asked soldiers to identify themselves if they don't agree with Trump's politics that way he'd get only supportive soldiers in uniform during his political rally on base. Heavier soldiers were also barred from participating.

As Trump viciously attacked his perceived political foes, he whipped up boos from the gathered troops directed at California leaders, including Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Senator Ted Cruz posted a dramatic video of LAPD cars on fire with the caption “this… is… not… peaceful.” What he didn’t mention? The footage was from 2020, not 2025. His post on X falsely implied it was current, part of a broader effort to spread lies and manufacture a crisis.

I'm currently part of a class action lawsuit against the City of Rochester because their cops did exactly this to me during the BLM protests. (Thankfully it was pepper pellets, not a rubber bullet.)

This is standard cop shit, I've witnessed and documented it for 20 years.
there are so many thoroughly antisocial behaviors that would shock and disturb you coming from any other human being but are completely standard for cops

My friend @tinadesireeberg.com is producing incredible work for @statuscoupnews.bsky.social.

someone i know who's pregnant was denied the covid vaccine this weekend by a CVS pharmacist

the guy insisted that 1) new guidance means pregnant women should not get vaccinated and 2) pregnant women only ever got covid vaccines at/after 32 weeks

consequences are here
ICYMI: I wrote about ongoing Republican attacks on COVID vaccines, which make use of years of state propaganda claiming COVID is mild, COVID is over, Long COVID isn't real, and that healthy people have nothing to fear from COVID.

Republicans' New Vaccine Restrictions Codify a False Healthy/Unhealthy Dichotomy
Denying vaccine access to the "healthy" makes no sense, not least because anybody can become disabled by a single COVID infection

We're flying to visit family soon, and BOY HOWDY is my anxiety through the roof.

I always get a little nervous about getting through security without a hassle, but it's so much worse now. Beyond that, I also know all too well about how the regulatory and safety agencies are struggling, so... 😬

- If you are a leftist who thinks it’s bad that Trump, Elon & his admin is full of fascists who fraternize with open white supremacists & do Nazi salutes at government events (pretty antisemitic!) then you shouldn’t have a problem with left-wing Jews noting that antisemitism has increased.

We should remind Trump that work requirements for social services was Bill Clinton's favorite thing in the 90's. Maybe he'll reflexively hate it.

Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” is Project 2025 in legislative form. Here’s how it quietly turns a far-right wishlist into federal law:

- Sec. 10008 - Expands work requirements for SNAP
- Project 2025: Pushes “moral reform” to make low-income people work more for food assistance.

When Reagan was elected in 1980, Springsteen started talking politics. In 1984, when Reagan wanted to use "Born in the USA" (misunderstanding the lyrics, as Trump did with "Fortunate Son"), Bruce said no.

The GOP couldn't buy him. MAGAts don't scare him. Trump can't touch him. Still the Boss.

I have a friend trapped in rural America who has a LOT of medical problems, some of them that could very well kill her in a few years.

She's a mom.

She's a fighter.

Her entire family is on Medicaid because we'll paying work is so scarce in their area.
WATCH: @aoc.bsky.social explains how the Republican bill will:

- Gut Medicaid
- Increase premiums for private health insurance
- Force rural hospitals to close

All to give a giant tax handout to billionaires.
