do you have any idea how much you have to piss somebody off to make them change their gauge
#Finland will begin to #Russia - proof its rail network, integrate with EU train infrastructure.

The Finnish government has announced the conversion of its rail network from Russian gauge (1,524 mm) to European standard (1,435 mm).

Ühe järgi Tartu on endale järsku kõrged mäed saanud.

Some cautiously positive news from France, but systemic pesticides (like neonics) can persist in the soil for years, so it's early days yet.

Arguably the best game made by Estonians is getting a must-see documentary series.

Noclip is always creating a lot of interesting content that reveals the ins and outs of the gaming industry, but this might be their most interesting project yet (this comment brought to you by a biased Estonian)!
we've a little disco elysium teaser dropping tomorrow, and the full series starts sometime next week. we'll have 5 episodes, each is currently around 40 mins. it's probably the project I've taken the most care with, given the impact of the game, and it's unique development story. i hope it's good!

Why am I so against generative AI in games?

Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.

turns out they're using AI on it anyway, it's just hidden a bit.
Banning AI content is a great way to create a space where there's fresh, unadulterated content from humans which they can steal and sell off for new AI to be trained on.

Everything I know about Jack Dorsey suggests this AI-free Vine reboot is just a venture capitalist abattoir for human creativity.

Riffing off the essay I shared, the thing is, this beast can be fought. It must be fought in a thousand ways, and knowledge (especially sex ed.) is a critical part of it. Bystander intervention. Advocating for survivors. Legislation. Can it be defeated in our lifetime? No. We must still fight it.

HOLY SHIT. They found the genes for fibromyalgia - and it's *not* autoimmune, it's the central nervous system. It's very cool to see some progress made on the thing that's ruined my life since late teenage years!

The old joke about the primary international response to war crimes, aggression and atrocities by Russia being a strongly worded tweet was never actually a joke.
