He is far from perfect, and his positioning on immigration is probably the reason I wont vote for him next time round, but he is honest (as a politicians can be) and mostly competent and a lot better than most of the alternatives at present.
But he can't do that on his own. Partly because he doesnt have the charisma to drag the UK along with him, and partly because he has the right wing press parked on his doorstep (figuratively) waiting for any excuse to crown Farage. Ditching Brexit would be perfect for them.
Nobody was prepared for Brexit. Nobody was prepared for Trump. Nobody was prepared for covid. Nobody was prepared for the Ukraine war. Nobody was prepared for Trump 2.
Labour didn't have the straight run at governing that they did previously. Fixing the mess from the Tories is going to be painful.
They didn't have 14 years. During that time, Labour had 3 leaders, each with differing viewpoints. Also during that time, there were multiple world impacting events that would drastically change the course of any gov't, let alone the opposition.
I'm no sycophant, they are useless and should be done away with ASAP. And I don't feel sorry for him. Just said I wouldn't swap my life for his in a million years.
