Hey guys! I've decided that I'm going to be closing my shop for the indeterminate future while I re-evaluate what kind of stuff I want to be making, so I'm trying to get rid of all of my old stock! Everything is 50% off and may never come back!

Every time we complain about how much games cost to make, I think about Kevin Levine talking about how he had 2K throw out "seven games' worth" of material before wrapping on BioShock Infinite.

I don't think it's the coders and the texture artists wanting salary and benefits, you guys.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

I'm thinking about how it now seems clear this particular fascist moment will end, this particular movement will fall, but I'm thinking about all the forms of horrible harm that will be locked-in forever and go uncommented on. I am thinking about this because KOSA has been reintroduced in the House.

I posit 3 things:

1) We can vastly reduce the "Drudge Work" needed to maintain this living standard with only minor adjustment,

2) humans are social animals that actually enjoy cooperation when their own needs are met,

and 3) people will still want (and therefore make) money for Little Treats
Always grinds my gears when people say "No one would work drudge jobs if there was a UBI"

But even staying completely capitalist, I disagree. If I received a baseline living-wage UBI, and then I was offered REWARDS for drudge jobs, I'd take it! I want to save up for treats and travel and hobbies!

...wait... DID I play MN9? I have this vague memory of playing a bit of it, kinda hating the feel, and getting a Steam refund shortly into it?

...email seems to indicate I was in the kickstarter....

It’s so cool to have hitched your wagon 20 years ago to an industry that was booming beyond anyone’s expectations and have it turn out to be stripmined and utterly hollowed out by Shareholder Value, and every other industry you could slot into has been, surprise, hollowed out by Shareholder Value

If you're new to cooking or don't trust yourself to recognize a bad AI recipe, for the love on god, do not just use random recipes from random profiles. Find trustworthy sites and creators (Serious Eats, NYT Cooking, J. Kenji Lopez-Alt, Alton Brown) and search their archives for what you need.
NEW: AI “recipe slop” is overrunning search and social. Food creators say Google’s AI Overviews and glossy fake food pics are drowning out real, tested recipes — collapsing traffic and setting home cooks up for disaster, especially this Thanksgiving.

* Astronauts in space have never eaten the product known as "astronaut ice cream." It's too crumbly and dangerous (you need to keep flying bits to an absolute minimum in zero-gravity with all those sensitive instruments around). "Astronaut ice cream" was created to sell in gift shops. Really.
