This is Charles Clyde Ebbets, the photographer who took the iconic “Lunch atop a Skyscraper” picture. Look at this fearless, dapper fuck wearing spats, suspenders, and a tie 850 feet above the ground. Absolute legend.
Here he is taking the photo.

WOW. @haleaziz.bsky.social with a new scoop: ICE now gets a running list of every person who is going to be taking a domestic flight inside the United States from the TSA and runs it through their database looking for targets. This explains the Babson College student's arrest.

This is just some ordinary dude no one had ever heard of, quietly getting by, and the administration has decided in a fit of pique to hound him for the rest of his life because otherwise they'd have to tacitly admit they're capricious incompetent villains. Just let him live, ffs

One under-appreciated part of this: note the bit below about “and their dependents.”

Under the Trump admin’s new policy, dependent children of visa applicants are not allowed to have their social media set to private during the entire visa process. They MUST make their social media public.

The thing that always gets me about these stories is that the parents seem to honestly believe they *own* their children.

Then when their children grow up, they're absolutely baffled as to why those kids want nothing to do with them anymore.
You might think from the headline that this is a story about a trans kid suffering medical consequences from a large drug dose but nope! It is just an interview with an estranged father who is angry that his child happily transitioned.

When I’ve written about Elsa chatbots and Marvel actress deepfakes, people always eagerly respond that Disney will surely sue the AI companies. Didn’t happen. Instead, they joined forces with them. You can’t trust corporate America to do what’s right, not even for them, once they smell money

"Right now, you are white, but that’s a wholly contingent proposition. [...] whiteness is a thing that other people choose for you. People are white if whiteness is endowed upon them by the wider whiteness. It starts before birth and carries on after you’re dead."

This article is so funny in the way it starts off (“Space data centers??! Not as crazy as you might think.”) and then slooowwily by the bottom paragraphs “ok, this is not feasible for like five independent reasons”

¿Cómo destruir los servicios públicos?

1. Reduce drásticamente su presupuesto. Echas gente a la calle y no repones jubilaciones.

2. Te quejas del deterioro en su calidad.

4. Los privatizas.
