Honestly, no one is more passionate about Taylor Swift than the people who hate her.

Congratulations on not needing Taylor Swift to “open your mind”. Literally no one said they DO, but still, it clearly means a lot to you to make that point, so congrats on your accomplishment.

Then why did most people not even know what it means to own your master recordings until Taylor Swift brought it up? Nobody said she invented the idea, but the result of her using her mega-fame to speak out about it, brought about and IS bringing about real, GOOD change

(which most don’t, and Taylor is the one who brought attention to this whole thing)

Interpolation is the word used when an artist takes another artist’s melody and re-records it themself, whereas sampling is taking the literal recording and putting it in your song. They’re similar concepts but can change who gets compensated if the original artist doesn’t own their masters

I have literally NO idea what you’re talking about, but I do know that her song Father Figure is based on George Michael’s song and she purposely DIDN’T sample it because then the royalties would go to whoever owns his masters, instead of his estate, and she gave him a songwriting credit instead

I don’t understand why we need a “Columbus Day” when this country celebrates incompetent white men failing up and taking what isn’t theirs all year round.

Also, given how young most athletes have to retire, IF one of them is going to be a stay-at-home parent, my money would be on Travis. But their future plans as a couple would be none of my fucking business, wouldn’t it?

popping out babies left and right and never work again. It’s fine if she DID want that, and her songs seem to hint that she *does* want children eventually, but like……jfc.

It’s honestly very telling how, even with everything Taylor Swift has accomplished in life, even with all the things that have changed BECAUSE of her, we as a society still haven’t gotten past this idea that what every woman TRULY wants is to find a husband in order to quit her job and start

The summary of this book feels very “if Taylor Swift was a kidnapper instead of a musician and Swifties were trying to solve her crimes instead of figure out who her songs are about” www.amazon.com/Kidnapping-A...

I am so fucking OVER this whole “swiping to switch tabs” thing that every social media app has, because apparently when I scroll I can NOT keep my thumb straight and inevitably switch tabs every 5 seconds

I used to get mad when people misused "decimated" to refer to things that weren't 1/10th destroyed, but I've given it some thought and now I've done a complete 360 on it

When we live through difficult times it can be easy to succumb to despair, to see nothing but darkness on the horizon. But one day, in happier times, songs will be sung of those who persevered. Strive to be sung about as one who brought hope, as one who carried light over that horizon.

Why does it feel manipulative to be like “I haven’t been feeling great lately” just to hear people say kind things to you

Idek the tariff situation anymore though so I have no clue if it’s gonna cost 8 million dollars just to get it in the country or not

Trying to preorder Joey Batey’s book in the US is giving me war flashbacks to before Spotify was a thing and I had to order all of McFly’s albums from Amazon UK

while I acknowledge that LLMs do have some uses for stuff like “producing code with knowledgeable human supervision,” this perfectly reflects how I feel about using it for my own creative work

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

there’s this weird idea a lot of people seem to have about how all of us writers and artists must secretly want to use AI and are merely resisting temptation for ethical reasons, and like, no, it’s not hard for me to resist drinking the bowl of Piss With Glass In It actually

I have no idea what started it and zero ideas that I even wanna work on RIP

Tfw you finally feel that tiny spark of creativity but you have no idea how to fan the flame without putting it out completely 😭

This is Finley. He has a rare genetic mutation that causes patches of different colors in his coat. It is completely harmless, but it does make him completely handsome. 14/10 (IG: jaktlabben.finley)
a lab pup sits and looks up at the camera. his fur is a mottled blend of blond and black, and he’s standing on his leash with one front paw. a closeup of baby finley resting his little chin on a blanket. one of his ears is curled under at the tip and his eyes look a little sleepy. finley sits on a rock next to a body of water and squints slightly into the sun with his pink tongue sticking out.

all discourse aside, there is one machine with consciousness. it's printers. they are alive and conscious and they hate you and they'd take your arm clean off if you let them. never trust a printer.
