one of my fav reads this year!!!
I am reliably informed that my book has made an excellent gift for a large number of dads and dad types (non-gendered), if you need a gift for a dad or dad type in your life!!

I see people have takes on the wicked sex scene. I will share a semi related story which is that I received the book way too young as a gift from a clueless uncle, and when I showed my mom the sex scene, which had confused me (like most of the book tbh) she said "that's just a thing green people do"

a couple hours left to get an annual sub to game file and read my cool review of an even cooler game. you will find yourself becoming a little more attractive and better at your favorite daily word games.
hey look I’m in @stephentotilo.bsky.social’s Game File with a review of Blippo+, one of my favorite games of the year that’s not really a game, more like channel surfing TV from another planet. It rules

i hate that i think this is a great idea. people are so bogged down with admin, work is exhausting, everyone is lonely and having a hard time making or spending time with friends. friendships deserve our time and effort but good friends can also make drudgery fun
New, from @pamherd.bsky.social & I:
@chriscolin3000.bsky.social invented Admin Night, a strategy to turn the drudgery of completing dreaded administrative tasks into a party.

On average, it costs 28% more for a household with a disabled adult to have the same standard of living as a household without someone disabled. And that's from 2015 to 2018 data, so it's probably even more now. (Source: a 2020 study from the National Disability Institute)
freelancing in 2025 feels so different than even a few years ago. healthcare premiums are so expensive, being disabled is so expensive. money worries grind down the ability to think creatively or engage deeply with the world outside day to day survival

I spent October traveling to schools throughout the South talking to students about American history. What I found were young people who understand we can tell a story that includes both the positive and the negative. As one 8th grader in Memphis said, “Doesn’t seem that hard, just say both things.”
Tell Students the Truth About American History
We owe it to Americans of all ages to be honest about the country’s past, including its contradictions.

it's really exciting to see the flytrap republish some of bitch's features. i remember furiously reading this one when it came out years ago. imagine wasting brain cells over trying to obsessively expose a chronically ill person as "not actually sick"

KEEP SHARING YOUR STORIES about increased ACA premiums due to the disappearance of subsidies. The stories clearly are having an impact, they help people feel less helpless, and they create solidarity that leads to action.

Mine went from $395→ $821. What happened for you?

For any unfamiliar with the quality of journalism at Teen Vogue, it's well known for hard-hitting stories on "politically sensitive" topics including climate.

Then there's CBS: the only major network to increase climate coverage in the last few years. They just axed nearly their whole climate team.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Teen Vogue has been a trailblazer in taking young peoples' political action and interests seriously. their coverage was phenomenal. this is a heartbreaking loss

there's still going to be a gap in accessing SNAP benefits for families, this is a great time to volunteer to distribute food at a food bank and to check on your neighbors and make sure no one is hungry

Judges order USDA to restart SNAP funding, but hungry families won't get immediate relief
Two federal judges told the U.S. Department of Agriculture it must begin using contingency funds to provide food assistance, but gave the agency until Monday to decide exactly how to do so.

skinballs
On Saints Row we had a debug npc named Skinballs (lol) that was literally just four spheres wrapped in different shades of skin texture so we could test lighting for different skin tones during development. But teams need to plan for that kind of testing with intentionality, and not enough do.

yeah, this is hegseth straightforwardly announcing that it is free play time for bigots in the ranks. and together with his comments on standards, he clearly wants to purge as many women, black and brown people as he can from the armed services. a white man's military.
Hegseth: "We are overhauling an inspector general process that has been weaponized, putting complainers and poor performers in the driver seat. We are doing the same with the equal opportunity policies. No more frivolous complaints, no more anonymous complains ... no more walking on eggshells."
