An alternate solution would be to put away your dishes because you love your wife and want to make her happy.
Did red states ban dishwashers? This reads like a martial strife column from 1969.

Absolutely. This is the principle behind the five whys concept in root cause analysis.
part of that is listening in a deep way — in a way that you won’t capture with issue polling. you have to ask yourself what is the underlying concern? is it that voters have a firm view of, say, the deficit? or does the deficit represent a set of larger worries. if the latter, you speak to *that*.

One thing I’d add is that the public doesn’t respect politicians who appear to be tacking to every change in public opinion. People like someone with a backbone!
i will again note the slight of hand here. “respecting” public opinion is defined as being subservient to public opinion. but you can respect where the public lies without making yourself a slave to its whims.
This exchange drives me nuts. Neither the interviewer nor Bazelon acknowledges that 1) abortion rights are really popular! and 2) what ICE is doing is hugely unpopular!

Abolish ICE, arrest the perpetrators of these lawless crimes.

I’d go farther and say it was unethical and immoral.
Important: Maryland senate leader refuses to redistrict to counter Trump/GOP, but Rep Jamie Raskin says if Indiana GOPers move, MD must act:

"There’s nothing ethical or moral about unilaterally disarming before authoritarians in a game they’ve created."

While it is tempting to look for patterns, I think the capriciousness and arbitrariness are the point. That's what signals the absolute power of the monarch: he's not beholden to anything, hence anyone is entirely at his mercy.

It’s interesting how the most vocal racists tend to look like products of a first-cousin marriage.
July 5, 1925: Jean Raspail, a French author who became a hero of the far right with his novel "The Camp of the Saints," about an "invasion" of the West by dark-skinned immigrants, is born. Trump administration figures who praised his work include Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon.

A really lovely, positive story about what people can do to restore our world.

I loved this short documentary about botanist Hugh Wilson, who spent thirty years protecting and growing a forest in New Zealand.

All corporate CEOs should understand: If you agree to attend an event at the White House, you are very likely to be filmed nodding appreciatively at a delusional racist rant. If you're ok with that, go. If not, you probably should stay away.

Even accounting for the new congressional maps, a swing like Aftyn Behn's (Trump+22 to D-8.6) would net Dems 259 seats in the midterms.

Even if the swing is *half* of tonight's, Dems win the House with 229 seats

What lies at the root of both the grifters and ideologues, is a realization that attempting to recreate the United States' old racial hierarchies or burn a new white ethnostate out of it, is simply catastrophically unpopular to the point that an authoritarian regime would be required to enforce it.

The thing is, electorally, it won’t work out for them. There are a lot of minorities in this country.
Trump & Miller are now just explicitly explaining the whites only society they demand. It’s just the Klan. That’s it.

Trump Take Last Breath
Credit where it’s due. But I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this new framing comes out after a Democratic wave election, the ascendance (and surprisingly broad acceptance) of Mamdani, and his steadily crashing poll numbers.

Trump, Musk, and the GOP killed hundreds of thousands of kids around the world.

That should be a major story and talking point.

They cut USAID to "save" from "waste," but gave 40 billion to Argentina and threw a Great Gatsby party and let Kash Patel burn our money for his honeypot GF.

It is interesting that both the U.S. and Russia have explicit policies to separate disfavored parents from their children.
This is happening because of Trump & Vance
