Historian here 💯 what Minnesotans have done is show the way in protecting our modern interracial democracy, a legacy of Reconstruction when its foundations were laid.
My theory of the moment: The extraordinary courage of ordinary people in places like Minneapolis is reawakening us to our social and economic ties to immigrants. It's making "love thy neighbor" cool again. That's the ultimate antidote to MAGA hate.

Thoughts on this:

Estimates show 9,000+ nursing & PSW positions cut by 2027-28. The loss of 2,400 hospital beds is projected too.

The Ford govt uses taxpayer money to pay for spa parking on waterfront land being stolen from us while underfunding our hospitals. A 2% increase in spending per year = HC cuts.

I can tell you why, at least at CTV. I used to chase produce for Newschannel when Power Play was off air.

You'd show up for work, making (in my case) less than 50K a year, and you'd have like, two hours at a time to find someone to speak about XYZ, on national TV, with next to no notice.

Someone in whistle chat called people saying “I love your work, but I just thought of this other, different work you should be doing too” idea fairies and it’s so accurate. Don’t be an idea fairy unless you’re also going to be the project planning and volunteer coordination fairy.
a wonder, how many people will say “look at everything you’re doing, amazing! can you also do this totally different thing, for free, which I am getting paid to do?”

Really powerful, really illuminating thread. Clear, precise, devastating.
I don’t really know what I expect in posting this, but maybe some people see it and can learn from it.

I’ll call it “lessons from an unwilling immigration attorney.”

Sad day. Love that movie. Cort was one of a kind.

Here's my favorite shot in "Harold and Maude." It's an entire family history, beautifully enacted by Bud Cort and Vivian Pickles. And the music cue is just perfection.

We should not attempt any deal with the US under Trump.

This project, paid for by Canada, was built in a process that included American workers and American steel, and was endorsed by Trump in 2017 as critical infrastructure.

Now he's trying to extort us to own half.
