this is also why i think its bullshit that most drawing classes i have taken have put so much effort into teaching linear perspective lol. fucking boring and useful for very specific things but it was never taught well and imo there are Way better exercises and things to learn when starting

good thread + i wanna add that you don't need to wait until you are skilled or "good enough" to make art that excites you and brings you joy to create + finding things to appreciate about your unskilled or novice work is so important
when I was a kid, I got a cheap violin through a school program. At first all I could do was squawk "twinkle, twinkle" on it. I was bad at it!
I kept at it and discovered I had a really good ear, could learn without even reading notes, and got up to being second chair
