It’s tempting to imagine that we might, with some guardrails or restraints, slow the pace of evil to one we might more comfortably ignore. But making the work of rounding up our neighbors of color just tidy enough to be palatable must not be our solution.
It's simple: the DHS bill isn't going to pass if its lawlessness isn't reined in.
Democrats sought common sense reforms in the Department of Homeland Security spending bill, but because of Republicans’ refusal to stand up to President Trump, the DHS bill is woefully inadequate to rein in the abuses of ICE. I will vote no.

I would be very surprised if a full accounting in the future didn't reveal more than one mass grave at the detention centers. If they're behaving this way in public, what's happening out of sight must be many times more brutal.
Imagine what’s happening in the camps.
Imagine how much they’d be lying about what happened without all the videos showing it from multiple angles.

I often think of a line in a book I read years ago where the author said that we should be more precise and never just call hypocrisy what should better be called authoritarianism. And we see that on display with Republicans all the time. Hypocrisy is always actually just evidence of hierarchy.
