Being a labour person is a lifetime condition. "I am not in the labour party!" Still has labour person behaviour. "I am making an alternative to labour" labour person behaviour. "I hate them" thats DEFINETELY labour person behaviour
I mean this is both *chef’s kiss* in itself and frankly applies beautifully to the Labour Party itself following the factional wars of the last ten years

Naomi Wolf "No! No!!!" tweet but it's every time I see people talking about the Prime Minister's "mandate" or about a mid-term replacement being "unelected"

This is Yank Patter! Decolonise your brain! Resist Yank Ideas! We are a Parliamentary not Presidential Democracy! We do not elect PMs!

Mr. Beast is actually an real world case of a paperclip optimizer
I would normally write a small little skit where Mr Beast does one of his little bits, but I don't know what he does, so let's just assume he has a poor person trapped in a glass box and he's going to stream himself breaking their knees because they owe him $3500 on a $500 payday loan.

Israel highlighting how many 100s of aid trucks they will now allow into Gaza is a tacit admission that they were using aid as a weapon of war, by the way. seems weird not to talk about this

The argument being made in the column here is wild to me cos I'd always (naively?) assumed that the POINT of the leave/remain question was that it was biased towards union - I think there's an understandable complaint that it's always going to be easier to campaign on a positive 'yes' message and...
Take this claim, from Guy Stenhouse's col. Setting aside the absurd argument and the fact that the Electoral Commission Q testing for 2014 concluded the Q was unbiased and easily understood, you would expect the SSA data to tally with the SiU question if the latter were "the real question".

People say "autism never used to exist" and then you go to the Natural History Museum and the exhibit has a caption like "Born in 1762, The Revd [name] was famously irascible, steadfast in his routine, and dedicated his life to collecting 25,000 rare beetle specimens".
Fundamentally, the headbanging Right doesn't believe Autism (or ADHD) exists. Or in so far as it does exist, a human conspiracy has created it.

We're back to their core outlook that 'It didn't exist back in the good old days so can't exist now.'

'It must just be some modern woke Marxist nonsense'.

I do think, as a left of centre but broadly pragmatic voter, it should be a red light for the government that I am morally disgusted by them.
Keep thinking of arguments for why it would be completely insane to dump a prime minister with a huge majority just 14 months in, and also about how if he's not going to say a single word in opposition to the kind of shit we saw today then I no longer feel convinced by any of those arguments.

I think this is it. Despair is easy and you get to feel wise, and it doesn't really place any obligations on you or force you to speak out or do anything, really.
I do sometimes wonder if there is a certain kind of person that takes refuge in despair because it absolves them from having to do anything.

No, you do in fact have to help maintain the social norm against racism in the UK! That is your moral duty as a British citizen! Giving up on that is immoral!

This is the key thing about the Voter Respecters: they neither respect, nor understand the voters.
With Reform UK saying it would be reasonable to pay the Taliban to return migrants to Afghanistan, how many Britons this would be acceptable?

Acceptable: 17%
Unacceptable: 61%

% acceptable by party
Reform: 35%
Con: 23%
Lab/Lib Dem: 7-13%

Just for perspective, a few weeks ago roughly 100,000 turned up for the London Trans+ Pride march. By contrast fewer than 3,000 ACROSS THE WHOLE COUNTRY, have turned up to anti-asylum "protests". Yet we are meant to take the latter as "the voice of the people" and the former as "the minority".

Lot of talk over the efficacy or potential appeal of the new Corbyn party, but, in the difficult times we live in, we should all come together, find common cause, and remember that it really, REALLY fucks over George Galloway

The lack of algorithm on Bluesky tells me that we were fools to accept it elsewhere. We all now talk about how Musk uses it to suppress dissent on twitter, but he hardly invented it. Letting someone else set parameters for what you see is maybe the most poisonous thing that social media normalised.

Actually fuck off. Who is the EHRC to tell voluntary associations what to and what not to do?

Citing Hansard in court proceedings is a surprisingly controversial topic, but it's so cool how we literally know how the government thought the Equality Act interacted with the Gender Recognition Act at the time when the former was being drafted in 2009
