Apparently the only real artist part of the assets was the original bird / main logo (in collab with studio founders)... so the weird hand was intentional. According to their post about it yesterday, at least.

I do wonder if the artist they paid had some notes on that.

There's a whole third of my career of ~6-7yrs where I had the same happen.

They were awful crunches and rife with toxic leadership, but also some where I got to develop really cool skills that are now near-impossible to show to hiring teams.

Could just be placement of the delay, especially if you have conditional logic that might change during.

Have you confirmed with debug that the overlap bool/event is actually being set as you expect? Could be a case where the collision settings aren't aligned so it's not flagging IsInside.

Also not the first time a company has used "rushing toward a deadline" as an excuse, and in this case it's seemingly arbitrary given it's just an announcement of the studio's existence and not an IPO, etc.

Nevermind the implications of poor prioritization and preparedness the defense communicates.

You get a crest for killing it, but I've managed alright through most of the game without it.

It went down easier than some of the standard enemies so if you're missing out then just tackle it later 😅
