What I don't get is why ai posters flood sites with a billion variants of a piece instead of just picking the best one (hard to do because they tend to all be shit tbh).

Something I see everywhere in fiction is that kind of black and white, looking for THE right answer mentality that your example shows. Like, the Dance is so heavily focused around the idea that intentions don't matter that much when history has so much momentum and people just refuse to get it.

To be fair, this goes back to 1950's US consummerism, the mantra of which was basically "prosperity is when toys". Now we don't have the prosperity, but we do have more toys.

wars, power scaling, and complete obliviousness to literary allusions and unreliable narrators. More generally, a lot of people just don't know how to meet art where it is and only try to consume it and assess it in the terms of their comfort media.

It's kinda interesting then to see how this prevailing attitude then interacts with material that expects more of people. Like I'm not gonna pretend that asoiaf is that dense or challenging, but it does demand a lot more of a reader than someone like Sanderson, and yet its fandom is full of stan

Any time I see people complain about 2e's diffiulty I have to assume they're in a party of mindless damage dealers, because healers and tanks are extremely potent in this game.

I need everyone to know about the wonders of our upcoming presidential election. Ireland has so many problems but the fact that one of the candidates had to drop out over fucking over his tenants 16 years ago is great. Better yet, he missed the cutoff point to be

is to make cozy fiction as the term is used by people who market their books that way.
oisinduffy15.bsky.social
Saw some scuttlebutt about cozy fiction on the other site and I think one of the most striking things about the label is the massive difference between self-described cozy fiction and the works that are most commonly cited as inspirations. Like you can't make Kiki's Delivery Service if your goal

This was a big part of discussions on The Forge back in the day from what I've been told, even moreso than with D&D.

bounced off it because despite generally being much better games than OWoD, they didn't have the same lore. And it's a shame because the commitment to lore and metaplot frequently get in the way of what's actually good abou these games from a play perspective.
oisinduffy15.bsky.social
I think it's because the draw of WoD has never been the actual gameplay, it's been the tone, vibes and especially the lore, especially when there was a big focus on metaplot and the scope of the WoD LARP scene. Like even with white wolf's own successor, Chronicles of Darkness, a lot of people

self destructiveness of it as a PC and I know a lot of people who are completely unwilling to approach that level of vulnerability in a ttrpg.

It looks really cool, but I think the way it's written (the adventures moreso than the rules) will be fairly make or break. They can be quite terse in a way that's great for some GMs and will leave others really rudderless. I think it's also very group dependent as you really need to lean into the

What gets me here is like even in the global north, and within the boundaries of the profession of ecologist, our work is not just limited to mitigating negative impacts. Species reintroduction, habitat enhancement etc. are all pretty standard tools of ecologist. They don't happen as much as they

There are two games on Reddit you're allowed to talk about; 5e and Vaesen. You don't have to like or in Vaesen's case, even play it, but those are the only two games that are allowed to exist.

Genuinely wonder if people defend Sanderson so vociferously because of their parasocial relationships with the more (seemingly) progressive nerd celebs and influencers he rubs shoulder's with. Cause like there's nothing progressive about him and his output and yet people act like there is.
