Hi, I’m Raven. I post about random nerd stuff, periodic salvos at bigots and fascists, and lots and lots of #Pathfinder and #Starfinder memes, recaps, pics, and memes. Not a swear-free zone—I’m not gratuitous with it, but when the situation calls for them, I’m not gonna shy away.

Don’t be tricked into paying through your olfactory organ for “imported Diaspora ice”, though—it *is* better than UPB-synthed, but the shipments are regular, so it’s only slightly pricier. “Imported *Gelid Edge* ice”, otoh, *is* scarce, but may contain traces of Aucturnite, so… caveat emptor.

Did you know they let just anyone walk in off the street and buy a boyfriend shirt? They don’t even pretend to check for proof of boyfriend or anything!
Raven, wearing a plaid “boyfriend shirt” flannel in fall colors, over a sweet Bit Brigade band shirt. And yes, I can name three of their songs.
ostentatiouscorvid.bsky.social
Wouldn’t that properly be a mega-milli?

Feels right. Other part is I’m playing in Pathfinder Society, so variance under different GMs session-to-session is a concern (especially inexperienced GMs who have enough to worry about).
Still thinking of retraining for the feat, though, because the flavor is just SO cool…
ostentatiouscorvid.bsky.social
I love the flavor of Empiricist, but for the Investigator I actually play (Awakened Raptor named Clever Girl), I went out of my way to choose a different methodology, to avoid the adjudication headaches of That’s Odd.
(I am liking Alchemical Sciences a lot, though!)

As an actual plot point?
Yeah, maybe questionable.
As an “empty-hand bluff” by Vader’s sociopathic, yet perfectly truthful, right-hand droid?
Perfection.

Generally, people with non-standard pronouns won’t be annoyed by you asking about them, and in fact are far more likely to be delighted that you’re making the effort.
ostentatiouscorvid.bsky.social
Thinking cautiously and asking is exactly the right way to approach allyship. If the use isn’t clear in-context, asking will often clear it up. If that’s not an option, “they/them” is usually a safe ‘default’ until you know for sure—DO NOT use ‘it/its’ if there’s the slightest doubt!
ostentatiouscorvid.bsky.social
Bottom line, if someone says: “these are my pronouns”, using those terms is *ALWAYS* correct.
ostentatiouscorvid.bsky.social
If that person prefers it/its, use it/its. Depending on context/audience, a clarifying note may be appropriate. ‘It/its’ IS used as a slur, but those who self-apply the pronouns do so in defiance of such, and for them—and ONLY them—‘it/its’ is both acceptable and appropriate.

Oh my goodness, these are GORGEOUS! It's not just the subject matter--I named myself Raven, of COURSE I'm a Poe fangirl--but the way they each capture the mood of the work they reference, to the point that it feels like I'm looking at the piece and reading the work simultaneously.

In honor of Edgar Allan Poe's 176th deathday, here are a few of my recent pieces inspired by Poe's works 🫀
Illustration by Abigail Larson depicting a scene from Edgar Allan Poe's poem "Annabel Lee". Two lovers embrace at the edge of the sea, water splashes around them and the surrounding rocks. A full moon shines over them, and storm clouds loom.

Rats have swarmed around him, chewing the ropes that hold him down. This illustration is featured in "Sticker Jigsaw: The Edgar Allan Poe Collection" for Macmillan Books. Illustration by Abigail Larson for Macmillan's "Edgar Allan Poe Sticker Jigsaw" book. The illustration is a scene from Edgar Allan Poe's poem, "The Raven". The narrator is at the center of the image looking up at at raven perched above an open doorway. Behind the narrator is a tall window with red curtains, and the ghost of Lenore lurks nearby. A black cat is watching the scene from the lower right corner.

At a restaurant; overheard someone saying “SRO” at the next table. Sadly, they were talking about Search-and-Rescue Operations, not the #Starfinder ancestry. 😢

I remember the “My Teacher Is an Alien” trilogy from childhood. Especially the third book, with its “humanity on trial” plot that hit me every bit as hard then as Star Trek: TNG’s “Encounter At Farpoint” / “All Good Things” bookends would when I watched them a few years later.
