I actually have a lot of confusion about judging the morality of a composite, corporate entity like the United States as if it was an individual with individual views and coherence and moral intuitions. A state is simply not that thing at all
as long as you live in America there is no choice you can make that absolves you of moral responsibility for the American state, the only thing you can do is ensure that it behaves in the least unethical way possible
