Even a year ago I could afford to bring nutritious food in regularly for the student pantry. It’s harder to do that now but imperfect help is still help and sometimes someone just needs a full belly to get through the day. #littlefreepantry

By firing half of the staff of the Department of Education, Trump is making it harder to get resources where they're needed most: In classrooms.

There's a Sustainability version of this too: Advocate for change to greener lifestyles and you'll quickly be told this has to be a "Just Transition", yet I don't recall anybody ever explaining how the status quo is just
I keep seeing the same common theme: the impossible standards placed on anyone advocating changes to our transport system. Question car dependency and you're expected to address every inequality and injustice at the same time; but support car dependency and you'll never be challenged on these issues

I cannot stress enough how a legal risk framework is leading to bad decision-making at some campuses. They are going overboard to avoid any questions out of the belief it will keep us safe. It won't! They will move the target. They will push for more based on prior compliance.

After Green interrupted last night, another Democrat should have done the same thing. And then another, until all of them had to be removed. Delay the speech by a few hours. Or walk out en masse. Anything.

Calling Trump an existential threat means nothing if you can’t meet the fucking moment.
Tonight I submitted my first bylaws proposal for consideration at my union’s general membership meeting next month. It feels like a big step in my growth as a union leader. Even if it doesn’t pass, I learned from the process and I’m proud of the research and work that I did. #union #labor

is it in his power to declare this? no.

will universities use this as an excuse to further infringe on students' rights to protest? absolutely.
At AFT-OR Winter School, they gave out little pots with basil seeds. Mine sprouted over the weekend! I’m going to divide them out for myself and my coworkers once they’re a bit bigger. #windowgarden #growyourfood #union #aft

🚨A U.S. military fuel supplier just cut ties—because of Trump.

Norwegian company Haltbakk Bunkers refused to refuel a U.S. Navy vessel after Trump’s disgraceful treatment of Zelensky.

His reckless foreign policy is hurting our military readiness.

A quick bonus thread on this---I think a lot of the reason so many universities etc. are folding to bullshit like anti-DEI orders is because university counsel are thinking "how can we minimize risk to the university over the next six months" --- but this is actually penny-wise and pound foolish 🧵
Yeah another big piece of this problem is that the incentive of in-house counsel in places like hospitals and universities is to be maximally risk-averse in the short term

even a hostile federal government only has limited enforcement resources, and a government gutted of its personnel and fulled with mistrust even more so. If universities adopt a strategy of collective resistance, and mutual support for those targeted by the regime, they may well be able to protect

TL;DR: universities, like the press and others are at war. We didn't choose that war, it was thrust upon us, but it is war nonetheless. We need to start acting like it. In a war, playing nice with the enemy does not work. And that means choosing bolder strategies, including bolder legal strategies.

Do normal voters even know anything about this? Like, was this even on their radar? Or is it 1000% for corrupt reasons?
There it is: Trump announces the US will not be enforcing its new shell company registry, which is the single-best tool to counter kleptocracy.
