Even a year ago I could afford to bring nutritious food in regularly for the student pantry. It’s harder to do that now but imperfect help is still help and sometimes someone just needs a full belly to get through the day. #littlefreepantry

I keep seeing the same common theme: the impossible standards placed on anyone advocating changes to our transport system. Question car dependency and you're expected to address every inequality and injustice at the same time; but support car dependency and you'll never be challenged on these issues

I cannot stress enough how a legal risk framework is leading to bad decision-making at some campuses. They are going overboard to avoid any questions out of the belief it will keep us safe. It won't! They will move the target. They will push for more based on prior compliance.

Tonight I submitted my first bylaws proposal for consideration at my union’s general membership meeting next month. It feels like a big step in my growth as a union leader. Even if it doesn’t pass, I learned from the process and I’m proud of the research and work that I did. #union #labor

A quick bonus thread on this---I think a lot of the reason so many universities etc. are folding to bullshit like anti-DEI orders is because university counsel are thinking "how can we minimize risk to the university over the next six months" --- but this is actually penny-wise and pound foolish 🧵

TL;DR: universities, like the press and others are at war. We didn't choose that war, it was thrust upon us, but it is war nonetheless. We need to start acting like it. In a war, playing nice with the enemy does not work. And that means choosing bolder strategies, including bolder legal strategies.

Democrats are in the minority, but that doesn't mean they're without power. Here's how Democrats can stop extreme MAGA cuts and President Musk.

HOUSE DEMOCRATS HAVE LEVERAGE - IF THEY USE IT.

House Republicans are in chaos, torn between extreme cuts to life-saving programs like Medicaid and shutdown fears. With a March 14 deadline and control of both the White House and Congress, the GOP owns any shutdown failure.

Their majority is miniscule and as soon as the government funding bill looks even remotely reasonable, hardline MAGA extremists will revolt. That means the GOP will need Democratic support to pass a budget.

Meanwhile, the Trump-Musk coup continues as MAGA tries to illegally raid payment systems, shut down federal agencies, and fire federal workers. The only way Democrats can stop any of this is by fighting like hell and refusing to cooperate.

PROTECT ESSENTIAL PROGRAMS
Demand a budget that stops MAGA looting and protects working families, or Trump's team will slash essential programs and funnel cash to allies.

STOP MAGA CORRUPTION
Block any budget without strong protections against Trump and MAGA abuse. Without safeguards, Trump and his allies will divert funds while cutting essential programs. No cuts to Medicaid, Social Security, or food assistance-no loopholes, no empty promises.

NO EXTREMIST RIDERS
Hold the line on a clean government funding bill-no funding cuts to critical programs and no poison pill riders attacking abortion rights, LGBTQ+ protections, or immigrant communities.
