Finnish #intelligence #history keeps having wild plot twists.

A retired Finnish spy-catcher with probably a world record in catching Soviet “illegals” (“at least” 25) got the largest lottery jackpot in Europe - and used the millions to do and help counterintelligence.

Good. It would have been simpler if they had been years ago

My 'expert' view as unofficial Professor of Biblical and Irn Bru Studies is that this ungodly mixture is covered by Leviticus 19:19. It is, therefore, an abomination.

To be honest, I'd need a lot of persuading cinnamon belongs in anything (other than cinnamon buns, and even then at a push)!

Manchester got a better deal, with the Midland Hotel retained and the station becoming a conference centre

I only remember the big station when it was temporarily used as a car park (the irony!). As a wee boy I found the gothic architecture and high shed roofs quite scary.
I believe the replacement building is now facing demolition

You might like this newspaper photo from 1976 when the Subway was extensively modernised. St Enoch mainline and its hotel with its St Pancras style raised approach has been demolished for a car park, and the Subway station floats above a huge hole in which the modern station is now located.

Now having a coffee in what’s left of it - the former Glasgow St Enoch subway station is now a Cafe Nero…

Until now, I’ve never worked out where the long-gone Glasgow St Enoch station used to be…. It’s changed a bit!

My favourite trebuchet story is Edward I spending three months building one at Stirling Castle - nicknamed Warwolf - then angrily ordering the garrison back inside when they tried to surrender before he had a chance to use it at them.

Reading Holy Warriors,Jonathan Phillips' excellent history of the crusades, I learn that catapults on the opposing sides at the siege of Acre at the end of the 12th century went by names such as "Bad Neighbour" and "Evil Cousin."

1/ The question of why Russians aren't flocking to fight in the war in Ukraine is continuing to exercise Russian warbloggers. 'LIVE Z' highlights the devastating effect that indefinite military service is having on family life, which he says is a "defining issue". ⬇️

Truth Hurts

Yeah and as I wanted to buy my favs at around -60, -70% discount, Binance just gave a "sytem load too high" middle finger message.
Ofc ofc. They just wipe everyone out but you can't buy in at those prices.
What a crime circus.

11/ "The current design of the Special Military Operation doesn't imply a final end point, such as "defeat Ukraine entirely," or "take Kyiv, or Odesa and Kharkiv." The Special Military Operation will continue until the command declares it over.

Reform UK’s DOGE is DEAD

EIGHT Reform UK councils are considering raising council tax because they haven’t found anything significant to cut.

That’s TWO Reform UK local election pledges broken.
