YES. That’s exactly why we came.
I'm on & off today because I'm doing whistle admin but are clergy just popping up all over Minneapolis in groups to shame folks who aren't acting right?!?
Happening now: From Target HQ in Minneapolis hundreds of clergy ask Target to be good neighbors and Support the 4th Ammemdment stop Cooperating with ICE!

Action by Interfaith Alliance 👏👏👏 #ICEOUTforGood #AbolishICE

If WOKE 2.5 includes a tearing down of legacy private higher education in favor or rehabilitating state schools and public SLAC...well I was probably already on board but we should add that to the agenda.

Oh, bluesky
The "just how much to blame the US writ large for Trump" discourse has the vibes of the bane/pink guy meme but I don't know who is who and I'm too afraid for my sanity to try and puzzle it out

Everyone is (rightfully) dunking on the Titanic part but even if you leave that specificity out it’s pretty crazy to think that it takes more than a night to turn a boat around.

it's cause abolitionist Christians were the real fucking deal. "As He died to make me holy let us die to make men free" is a sentiment that fills even my atheist heart with righteous energy
The way so much of bluesky, including and maybe especially Jewish social democrats, has adopted the religious aesthetics of Civil War abolitionist Christianity is absolutely fascinating

Reinventing Plato's Republic from first principles
one of my kinda more crank, unworkable ideas is that there are jobs where the people who self-select into them are not the people who you want & that maybe we should just sortition people into those roles. like there are some things that attract people to policing that you don't want in cops.

Ok but like isn't this the second or third time Air Force One had to turn back during an Atlantic crossing. I know we all want it to be about Trump, but what if they forgot to pack Stephen Miller in the earth of his homeland, and had to turn back before crossing the water?

it's probably nothing. it's probably not something funny. it's probably not the case he got his pants stuck in the tray table. he probably didn't get his pants stuck in the tray table then he waddled and tripped and split his pants down the middle. they're probably not turning around because of that

When I was in school we’d have posters of Shaq and Vince Carter drinking milk and now it’s like hey want to see this weird looking person who gets paid to make your uncle racist
"Drink whole milk, you'll come in 5th place" is an incredible ad campaign.

The American way of war
We have ~15 separate radio dispatches, one for each neighborhood, and dozens more for the suburbs/Saint Paul. Each dispatch/monitoring channel contains somewhere between 500 and 2000 people. At any given time there are probably a dozen mobile patrols and 100 on-foot observers in each neighborhood.
Does Minneapolis have a radio dispatch set up for the people who are following ICE? That's brilliant.

A nontrivial percentage of my politics can be explained by Andy Beshear holding the line against the forces of the antichrist when he had every incentive to throw trans people under the bus.
Did a single state legislature Republican join the entire state Democratic party in opposing his party's 'Kill All The Trans Right Now' bill? Well guess who's getting ALL OF THE CREDIT.
Person who hates Democrats and is ambivalent to positive about Republicans while loudly proclaiming themselves to be the biggest trans ally and therefore most progressive.

Many such cases.
