Not to get too meta, but the genius of the bit is that it carries so much more than the physical comedy of the sketch (which is great). Archie Bunker has a way to do things: the way he's always done them, the way everyone is supposed do them. No one should be different, and nothing should change.
There is so much for which to remember Rob Reiner. In my family, we have long treasured this one bit he did with Carroll O'Connor on "All in the Family." It has always made me laugh, no matter how many times I've watched it. And we all could use a good laugh these days

my favorite thing about the benoit blanc movies is that they aren't really about benoit blanc. he is not grappling with demons from his past. we are not getting flashbacks to the husband whose murder he never solved. he just shows up and does his job like mary poppins for homicides

Night before Thanksgiving.

Turkey should be in the refrigerator, unwrapped, rinsed well, patted as dry as you can, and if you're dry brining, rubbed all over inside the cavity and UNDER THE SKIN with coarse kosher salt.

You're gonna put that on a rack over a roasting pan into the fridge UNCOVERED.

Turns out when you live alone there is no rule against having a piece of your pumpkin pie before Thanksgiving day.

Just finished Dispatch, and it is such a good narrative game, from the writing, to voice acting, to animation. I can’t recommend it enough. I do feel like there are a couple choices where at the end you tell what might have intended to be the canonical choices due to how things fit together.

Thank you again to everyone out there! Another year down, another million raised, and so many people who will be helped because of what you've done with us this year and every other! We couldn't do this without you, and through all the laughs and the tears, we wouldn't want it any other way...

The IRS is reportedly not offering its Direct File program next year. Here’s a look back at how TurboTax owner Intuit spent two decades fighting to prevent Americans from filing their taxes online for free:

Inside TurboTax’s 20-Year Fight to Stop Americans From Filing Their Taxes for Free
Using lobbying, the revolving door and “dark pattern” customer tricks, Intuit fended off the government’s attempts to make tax filing free and easy, and created its multi-billion-dollar franchise.

Despite all of Apple’s investment in AI and predictive text input, it still puts a period when double-spacing at the end of what is clearly a question sentence, and I find this deeply annoying.

South Carolina schools recently sent home unvaccinated kids to stem a growing measles outbreak. It turned out 5 of them were infected and, if they'd been at school, could've unwittingly spread it to their classmates for days.

That kind of precaution is now illegal in Idaho.
