This beautiful historic street full of independent shops is the main excuse people give for not cycling anywhere in our town at all - "how are we going to cycle up the Cop?"

I drove through streets that I normally cycle this evening and locked the central locking on the doors.
What’s the psychology behind that? 🤔

At the moment, children who need powered mobility aids are restricted by law to walking speed in public places until they turn 14. But children running, cycling and riding horses are allowed to go much faster - as long as they don't endanger others.

✔️ Agree strongly

Good work @autisticsociety.bsky.social

No charity, third-sector or public-sector organisation should still be on X. If you’re connected to anything like that, try to persuade them to leave?
Where organisations start to do the right thing and leave X, it would be worth supporting with a follow so that they post here more. @autisticsociety.bsky.social

I wish we could have cycle paths like this between villages here in the UK. Often only a few miles away but only dangerous roads with no pavements between them. Villages have become islands of social isolation where teenagers can’t be independent and those that don’t drive are trapped.
The best cycle lanes are wide, beautiful and completely separate from other roads. This type of infrastructure is common here in the Netherlands. They often connect cities and offer a great alternative for driving.

I hated my replacement wheelchair at first. But then I realised the metal rims stick out further than my old one and are great for scratching the paint off of any cars and vans parked across a pavement I'm using. Had it a month and racked up 3 cars and 4 works vans. 4.5 stars.

Overheard an old guy like me speaking his mind to some college students this morning. He was embarrassing and disrespectful, and probably wouldn’t have done it if they were older.
Maybe I shouldn’t have, but I apologised on behalf of us all 😂
