The challenge coins being handed out by @FBIDirectorKash. Seems someone put a lot of thought into this.

Israel has just arrested Greta Thunberg and many others.

Statement from the Global Sumud Flotilla:

“People of conscience have been abducted. The flotilla broke no laws. What is illegal is Israel’s genocide, Israel’s illegal blockade of Gaza, and Israel’s use of starvation as a weapon.”

Close to 65k watching the livefeed from the Global Sumud Flotilla off the coast of Gaza.

Israel seems to be intercepting right now.

All eyes needed.

BREAKING: Israel has begun intercepting the Global Sumud Flotilla, which is carrying 500 people from around the world seeking to bring aid to Palestinians starved by Israel's siege.

The crew includes 24 Americans, EU Members of Parliament, Nelson Mandela’s grandson, and Greta Thunberg.

The massive flotilla, which Italian and Spanish ships shadowed until it approached Gaza, is the fourth one attacked in the last year.

Watch live so they're less incentivised to murder these peace activists. Even just putting the stream on in the background is helpful.

Labour rescinded my conference pass over an unspecified "breach of the event code of conduct".

10 minutes later, @owenjones.bsky.social received a similar email.

This is a terrifying, authoritarian crackdown on press freedom.

Again, you *have to* have a Tesco card or your shopping costs even more than the already crazy prices! Do you see how all the arguments against objections amount to tiny gilded class saying “we already treat you like cattle, so it’s stupid for you object to us fucking you in new and exciting ways”.

I've always found it odd that people who oppose government ID cards are usually more than happy to own a loyalty card that allows private companies to keep track of tons of personal information about you.

Ok. They’ve pissed me off.

I’m back to tell you 3 things about ID cards:

1. Migrants ALREADY HAVE biometric ID cards & govts have been trying to digitise them for years w repeated fuckups & failures causing complete chaos - they don’t work, you do not want that system for you.

This whole thing is maddening. The border is not confined to the physical frontiers of this country. It's violence bleeds throughout the entirety of our society. How much are we to be expected to sacrifice in the name of stopping people from migrating and building lives here?
poorconrad.bsky.social
One thing I've not seen discussed much in relation to Labour's digital ID plans is digital exclusion. Thousands of people cannot or don't want to use the internet. People in poverty are far more likely to be digitally excluded.

Are these people to be excluded from the workforce then?
lewisgoodall.com
Today’s digital ID announcement yet another example of how X being the main platform for political discourse will inevitably throw the MSM’s coverage off course, because online right opinion is fevered/way off the beat with the public.

Guess who need digital/reliable ID most? Those in poverty.

Unless the government introduces PR, there will be a far right government in power in 2029. And like the compliant liberals they always were, the Labour party are building the administrative tools to help those fascists round you and your friends up for deportation. Frightening.

hello I am a deeply unpopular prime minister. In a last gasp attempt to save my own skin my big idea is to launch the least popular policy of an also deeply unpopular predecessor. I am forensic.

These are all great points. I’d also add that we should oppose this out of solidarity with people who are here “illegally” and shouldn’t have to live lives that are even more criminalised, precarious and hunted.

A short thread on digital ID (cards) just to bear in mind. There are a few myths that I keep hearing about this idea that need clarifying/debunking. 1/10

the fact that so many people frame autism as “a problem that needs to be solved” is a constant reminder that being “not normal” isn’t acceptable to a large amount of the world. it’s the same reason there’s a trans panic right now too. they think people are defective

And also that to be autistic is to be a tragedy, a burden on society, a problem that must be solved. This is deeply dangerous stuff.
jessicacalarco.com
Whether they're blaming vaccines and Tylenol, or selling dubious "remedies," what they're really doing is promoting the perception that families (and especially mothers) can prevent and treat Autism. And thus also the perception that people with Autism and their families don't need social support.

Some on the left are more ready to contemplate throwing minorities under the bus than to contemplate the ejection of certain toxic officials and inept leaders from senior positions. But real strategic wisdom (and ruthlessness, if you like that sort of thing) lies in the latter, not the former.

Right. My students working two part time jobs and/or having an hour and a half commute to uni because they have to live at home due to the cost of student accommodation lack drive and vigour. Sure thing, Peter. The UK Govt still haven't a clue about the realities of universities today.

That's a Labour government minister berating university students and staff by saying that 'too often people go to university to "explore research and knowledge"'.

I'm very glad of our students who study history to explore research and knowledge.
