Deleting Signal now that I know it's compromised. Find me amongst the missionaries, mercenaries, mystics, misfits.
I'm starting to come to terms with the idea that it will in fact be normal to start crying anytime, anywhere for the foreseeable future.
“If I am killed doing this, throw my body at the White House, martyr the shit out of me & raise hell. Do not be sad. Do not think I would do anything differently. I would do it over & over again — this is too important to sit down & shut up and not do anything.” www.mprnews.org/story/2026/0...
Pursued by federal agents, suburban ICE observers remain resolved
After a frightening pursuit by federal agents, suburban ICE observers say fear hasn’t stopped them from protecting their communities.

Wouldn’t a “professional activist” essentially be the same thing as a lobbyist? 🤔
The phrase "professional activist" is functionally meaningless. It's a term that politicians and corporate targets have used for generations to discredit anyone who's effectively challenged them. Anyone who deploys it in earnest to discredit deeply committed people is broadcasting their ignorance.

“After one council member called the protesters ‘agitators’ …”

Huh. Weird place to suddenly stop naming the council members who have been saying the things.

Greetings from inside the economic blockade zones of Minneapolis and St Paul! Don’t look away, please. We need you. It’s been a month and they’re trying to destroy us.

This is what they do: Gangland style intimidation and retaliation. If you host a fundraiser against ICE, they come with teargas—Wrecktangle pizza. If you speak up, they come with auditors—Mischief Toys. If you ban them from parks they occupy them at dawn—Powderhorn. They are lawless thugs.
Columbia Heights (Liam's school district) cancelled school today because of a credible bomb threat at Liam's elementary and multiple ICE vehicles parking in the high school staff parking lot at 6:15am.

Texted with a GC-holder who flew from Asia direct to U.S. eastern home.

Said when they asked the agent what was up, the response was that the detainments happening were mainly "for federal offences"

A friend recently bought me these Tiny Tates Gluten Free cookies and they're pretty delicious. I googled them to see where I could buy more but instead this popped up.

Gross. Evil.

I'll find another sweet treat.

wish I had a bit more of a creative bent. (I'm aware it takes practice)

truthfully my skill set lies in optimizing and simplifying, which seems antithetical to creativity

I've personally had barely any ICE encounters. I've done patrolling when I can. And my body is just yelling at me that it's wrecked.

Even doing a little bit is fucking taxing. Everyone doing more is a superhero, and I don't think folks who haven't been involved in an occupation understand the toll.

I know it smell crazy in there.
some good news buried among the horrible behavior listed:

“The third woman said federal agents at her hotel are subsisting on microwavable bowls of Campbell’s chicken noodle soup, because it’s become so difficult for them to find restaurants willing to serve them.”
I visited hotels all over Minneapolis, went into back rooms & talked to the staff.

They're afraid.

One told me she resents how her undocumented coworkers spend their days cleaning the rooms of agents who are “hunting down their family members.”

A quick reminder of what #BigFebruary is about…
Thanks to the magic of the cosmos, we start gaining daylight much faster in Feb than in Jan. Over 20 mins a week - setting us up for Spring.

This chart is by @neilrkaye.bsky.social and is one of my all time favourites.

You Want It Darker/Tower of Song (tie) - Leonard Cohen

Anthems for a 17 Year Old Girl - Broken Social Scene

Pull Me Through - Jim Cuddy

Home for a Rest - Spirit of the West
Trivia time: Can you name 5 musicians or bands from Canada and their best songs.

No judgement here, everyone has a say. Music is universal, we all have different tastes in music. Maybe you will find some new music to enjoy as well. 🍁

I believe today was Bruce Springsteen's first performance on the First Avenue stage. He is now in the pool of people who could have been in the building as a bus passenger and onstage as a performer, if in his youth he traveled to Minneapolis by bus.

That is @garyhornseth.bsky.social's white whale.
