It is genuinely insane to see a judge describe Graham Linehan as a “generally credible witness” in a trial where he claimed Sophia Brooks has been engaged in “trans activism” since 2013 (when she would’ve been 6 years old), then, when challenged, claimed her drivers license lied about her age.

Look, maybe as a German person I am being overly sensitive here, but in the nicest possible way: what the fuck lads?!
Imagine having a thumping majority in parliament and deciding to use it for something as squalid as this.

Saying that they're merging the rules for intersex and trans athletes, because 'gender doesn't trump sex' is saying that intersex women are really men.

That is what 'Lord Coe' is really saying

Sadly, I think this is a test the vast majority of people fail. It's why those cis people who tend to properly advocate for us almost always have "skin in the game" – they are our parents, lovers, friends etc. But, really, this should be a fight for all of us.

I think fundamentally, the ability to care about the rights of a small and vulnerable minority (of whom you might know no members) is an important sign of whether you are committed to human rights out of principle, or out of mere convenience.
Being nice to trans people really did turn out to be a load bearing part of liberal democracy ey

2/ I pointed out that none of the lawyers argued that the Gender Recognition Act was defective. It was Hodge who came up with the idea.

Perhaps, just perhaps, he wasn’t acting as a judge at all, but as an arbitrary authority. That would explain why he felt the need to defend his nonsense.

1/🧵 Judges are generally proud of the tradition that once a judgment is given, they do not explain or defend it further. So you should definitely ask yourself why Patrick Hodge chose to break with that tradition.

It’s just fucking lame.

Women are biologically afraid of insects. Gender critical feminism, everyone.
Amazing developments in women defending theory happening in that courtroom.

assurances from the NI Justice Minister herself that Nesbitt had no interest in prosecuting families.

Then, one month after the funding is announced Mike Nesbitt, the current NI Health Minister, orders another review, this time to be led by Hillary Cass.

It is absolutely shameless.

People lost their shit, including the News Letter which published 17 articles in one week, more than the Telegraph and Mail combined that week. The TUV and DUP started crying.

Then we hear that families here will be criminalised for seeking private care abroad for their trans kids despite 2/

To clarify the situation. The former NI Health Minister commissioned a review of gender services. That involved trans people and their families and concluded in April after almost 6 years. They made recommendations, which were going to be implemented, and asked for funding, which was allocated

Saw Inter Alia this evening, broadcast live from the National Theatre to cinemas.
Fantastic.
Emotionally devastating.
And so much to think about.

I would just note that HRT was also flagged as a specific danger last week regarding trans people; and forever unspecified dangers were the reason trans kids in the UK had their access to blockers removed. As ever, the war on gender and on bodily autonomy is thoroughly intersectional.
You guys see where this is going? Right?

"Biological male" is a slur against trans women 99.9% of the time it's used

Talk of solidarity and no place for bigotry but no talk of what that means or looks like. Meanwhile the transphobe is clear cut and calls for segregation. This cowardice is exactly what i feared and will see our rights compromised away

Cause she waited so long they left space for one of their mps to call for trans segregation so now these nice sentiments mean very little, you gotta now overtly actually oppose that policy. Really sick of just getting nice sentiments but no addressing of our human rights and healthcare
Slightly undermines your "transphobia not welcome here" messaging if one of the other co-founders was, at the same moment, tweeting transphobic talking points.

Will he be kicked out? Doubt.

We are in such a rum place where we should welcome a such a Home Office sigh of relief in an asylum judicial review case.
A Home Office source just messaged me to say there's a "collective sigh of relief" in the department following the Epping hotel appeal ruling. Fears a ban could have led to a domino effect across the country.

This very much is why we are upset. We have followed the rules that have been set by cis people every step of the way, and now you turn around and say, sorry but you don't have the rights you think you have.
I want to explain a few things and then it might be clearer why UK trans people are upset.
In 2001 I married my wife, Sylvia.
In 2005 I started medical transition. (1/13)

He was very good in person with his trans fans too. Growing up going to SF cons, I met many trans people before I even knew what trans meant. I gave my parents very little they needed to accept in their child, so they had lots left over for everyone else. 😉 www.thepinknews.com/2021/08/06/t...
