It is embarassing not to see the BBC pulling up Reform leaders claiming that Nathan Gill was just some fan who got photos taken with Farage - he was an MEP for them & their leader in Wales while taking cash from Russia to act against the UK! Literally the very basics of your job to point this out

This speech is pure badassery.

We're suing over the free rein Donald Trump gave Elon Musk and DOGE to access Americans’ private information.

Musk and DOGE want to use this information to cut vital services that Americans rely on — from health care to education.

This is unacceptable and illegal.

In certain circumstances a Trans+ person not revealing they're Trans+ is now a crime punishable by imprisonment, discrimination, and violence by cisgender people

Imagine the outrage if this was reversed

If she'd been married and lied about being single or if she'd been a convicted abuser and lied about that she would not be going to jail.

People lie all the time before sex, during sex and after sex.

If you're trans, that's a crime.

She's been jailed - to be raped every night.

She's in a male jail. Despite living as female since she was 13.

A brilliant performance from @zackpolanski.bsky.social on #bbcqt last night.

Voters who saw it will be in no doubt that the Green Party is about way more than just the environment.

And that Labour and the Tories are done and the battle is between Reform and the Green Party.

To me, the whole “transition from…to…” narrative has always felt rooted in cisgender cope and ignorance

Trans+ people access Trans Healthcare to be themselves - that’s it - it's that simple

For true gender liberation, the “transition” framing needs to go

I raised the devastating impact of sudden visa rule changes with the Mayor – over 200 TfL workers are at risk of deportation.

These are people who trusted the system, built lives here and are now left in limbo.

I'm glad the Mayor has committed to lobby the Government and support these workers.

Under AMS, fair enough to vote SNP #1 for the constituency but due to the way the quotas work for the list an SNP #1 vote would be more likely to increase Labour and Reform seats. Green #1 and SNP #2 on the list means neither vote would be wasted.

Aw thanks. Absolutely gorgeous profile pic btw! Is that your doggo?

I live in England (alas) but my mum goes leafleting for the legend who is Ross Greer and my brother is a SGP member. Hoping GPEW can officially reaffiliate soon. But you have to agree our policies are very similar and both parties are in the international green party.

In 1857, Thomas Howland became Providence, RI's first Black elected official.

Later that year, he decided to emigrate to Liberia with his wife & daughter after the Dred Scott case denied Black people protections of U.S. citizenship. He was denied a passport.

Thomas Howland, 1856
John Blanchard
Portrait of a distringuished Black man from the 19th centrure wearing fine clothes, including high collar and tie of the day.
Museum Text:
Thomas Howland, the subject of this unusually expressive portrait, was a dock worker in Providence, Rhode lsland, In 1857 he became the city's first Black elected oficial when he was amed warden of its Third Ward. However, that same year he decided to emigrate to Liberia with his wite and daughter, perhaps in response to the recent Supreme Court decision in the Dred Scott case that denied African Americans the protections of U.S. citizenship. Because of this decision, Howland's application for a passport was denied, despite his status as a free man with the right to vote in his home state (he did eventually make it to Liberia). Howland's confident posture echoes that of the earlier Portrait of a Gentleman shown nearby, the fashionable attire of both sitters serving to reinforce thelir self-possession.

Not sure I agree that it's *never* the comms - but perhaps this applies to the party in power specifically. Food for thought none the less.
stephenkb.bsky.social
It's never the comms. Labour's comms is grey because in the absence of a clear strategy for what the government wants to achieve, no-one can defend or articulate what the government says in an interesting or exciting way.
lewisgoodall.com
I do wonder if Labour might look at the sorts of people dominating the discourse and dominating the content wars and maybe, just maybe, rethink the sorts of grey figures they routinely put up for interviews, instructed at that to be as cautious as possible. Things have changed. Their comms hasn’t.
